Last week my boyfriend and I took part in Broken City Lab's Welcome to the Nighbourhood psychogeographical walk. Each group was given an algorithm of randomly generated tasks. Basically we had to walk in a certain direction or for a certain amount of blocks and then take a picture of specific things we had to look out for, such as a boarded up house, a house with a nice yard, two people who might be a couple, or a sculpture at the river, as seen in this picture:
"Walk to the campus or sculpture garden (whichever is closer) and take a...

I've gotta admit, I'm a sucker for those colors and lines
Although we've got 3-1-1 now, I kind of wish some of those "Recorded Information" lines still
worked. Anyway, I tried a few of the numbers just for fun... Suicide Prevention was someone's
mobile voicemail box. Stock Market Prices was a fax machine, World Series was a dead number
and Time of Day was a recording explaining that I had reached a non-working number belonging
to the US Government...

Alright, since Sofia (or, if you prefer, Sophia) is so greatly underrepresented I thought of sharing some pics I took on a nice autumnal October day in 2008.

This one is from the mid-30s. The three buildings still stand but the one with the oil derrick on top was expanded and remodeled in the 1960s

A few years back I decided to go out and photograph the former locations of the New York Fire Patrol past and present. On 15 October 2006 the NY Fire Patrol was disbanded. At one point the Patrol had 7 companies and 3 Salvage Corp units. I was driven to work on this project as tribute to Keith Roma who was a member of the patrol who lost his life on September 11, 2001 during opperations at the World Trade Center. The Patrols primary duty during its existence was to protect property but when saving lives came into the picture...

I like books on architecture and City Planning. Found these two in an off-campus college bookstore in central New York state (oddlt enough not in Utica NY).
The 1948 report only yielded a cover piccy but the 1949 report had existing conditions pix and project proposals.
