Right in the heart of Newark, New Jersey is an abandoned housing project
Built by the Housing Authority of the City of Newark, 1939-1941 with the assistance of the United States
Housing Authority, Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States of America
Even the pay-phones have been removed
But people still wait in the shade for the bus-line, which remains

The twins as seen from Brooklyn. By the 1970s shipping traffic had moved to the container port at Newark yet there was still general cargo going out and coming in. Somebody's getting some new Chevy pickups...
The twins from Jersey City. Battery Park City was still in the planning stage as was the Trade Center's Vista Hotel...

After first learning about Parkour from Citynoise, it's only fair that
I post this Parkour sighting on the PATH train here...
Traceur is a synonym for Parkour
They proceeded to engage in such antics all the way from Newark to
the WTC station in Manhattan, much to the delight of the otherwise
tired, drunk or bored riders of the midnight Friday evening train into
the city...

The third post in this Sidetracked in Harrison series, these photos cover the structures and
warehouses immediately to the north of the Harison, NJ tracks of the Port Authority Trans-Hudson
(PATH) commuter light rail
The pink region on the map is a quick overview of this area. And again, here's
an overview map of Harrison, for context
First, we begin in The Old Essex County Jail Complex
author: Peter : Newark, NJ

The Newark Street Jail was built in 1837. Renamed the Essex County Jail Complex when several
additional structures were constructed, it remains Essex County, New Jersey's oldest
standing municipal building.
This is what it loos like today, almost 175 years later
The undergrowth has been thriving in the recent warm springtime weather, and the outer yards are
hard to navigate, between all the rotting waste and sharp objects scattered about
Perhaps the structure decayed long ago or perhaps it was removed, but this cellblock is right...

Just east of Newark, across the Passaic River likes the first east-bound stop on the PATH,
Harrison, New Jersey. The Port Authority Police were of course none too pleased to have me
toting a camera on their otherwise very boring platform, so I was quickly dispatched to street-level
by a sympathetic officer who took me as "just another railfan", and sent me on my way.
The Harrison PATH Station
Established in 1840. Apparently, they also have a...
