Parade Day

its memorial day in my hometown. a day to remember our fallen soldiers. of all the bombs dropped during the 2nd world war, more bombs were dropped on iwo jima in just one day and one of the men i marched with was there that day. freedom is very expensive.

the vfw permits the veterans to wear the uniform of their time in the service. mine had to be altered because i weighed in at 155 with a 32 inch waist from 1961 till 1967. being a soldier was good for me, i needed the discipline. the armed services takes boys away from their mothers and gives them men back.

i know americans are sick with wars that won't be won but just keep losing good men and women. i wiould love to see all soldiers finish their tour of duty and go home and meet a beautiful girl, settle down and have a bunch of children that will someday grow up to become good people.

Lest We Forget

We may not always be on the same side of a conflict, but we share the understanding of the costs of war, and the freedoms those sacrifices have given us. May our grandchildren live to see the day when war is no longer needed, yet the values we strove for continue to flourish.

Yay Jack!
