Anybody know what kind of bird this is? It's huge. The wingspan is over 2m.

This was taken while exploring the backroads on the south-west corner of on the way to the Botanical Beach park.

jeeff: maybe a seahawk or something similar?

Biff: More likely a Sea Eagle...

EvilGentleman: 15th May 2006 - 15:47 GMT

The pose looks eagle-regal to me, but I wonder if the size guesstimate may be a bit off, and this could be a peregrine falcon?

Cameo: 15th May 2006 - 17:43 GMT

it was truly the hugest bird I've ever seen in flight.

Here's a closer look!

seahawk = sea eagle ()

Cameo: ty jeeff!

This is a photo of a Golden Eagle. Some what rare and just as big as you said it was. The mature Golden Eagle wingspan can reach 7 and a half feet

Biff: 16th May 2006 - 00:36 GMT

Wow! That is amazining. We just have song birds, seagulls and pigeons, not that there's anything wrong with that..

GGP: looks like a golden eagle to me, too.

jeeff: 16th May 2006 - 03:28 GMT

yeah for sure. thanks for the info nic.

In Central Asia, Golden Eagles sometimes are trained for falconry, and in Kazakhstan there are still hunters using these eagles in order to catch deer and antelopes.

holy shit!

Cameo: 17th May 2006 - 11:24 GMT

ty Nic, GGP and jeff for finding the right info and links!

Cheers.

These were taken today at Yonge and Dundas. Too bad he was packing up when I caught up with him at around 5:45 PM. And here is the chalkmaster himself...(drumroll, please)... DAVE! And if you noticed his caption, he wrote, his bootylicious...
