jamie: 29th Sep 2005 - 15:43 GMT

i'm not keen on the way he's eyeing that squirrel either

jamie: 29th Sep 2005 - 15:45 GMT

also: what camera are you using? it's either a really old digital one, or a kickass cameraphone. either way, nice pics.

barry: 29th Sep 2005 - 16:07 GMT

I got A camcorder about 2 months a go that also takes pic,s and was trying it out.I have to addmit it sucks,It was very hard to get a good picture with it.

Peter: 29th Sep 2005 - 16:35 GMT

barry- serious! ive seen that animal for years... and no one knows why hes there. its sort of a running joke, when you see something weird, to be all like "thats as random as a turkey living in battery park!".

barry: 29th Sep 2005 - 17:08 GMT

I am surprised that someone homeless hasent snaped it up for barbecue!

betty: the turkey is still there - July 13, 2006!

Happy Grammie: 14th Jul 2006 - 22:31 GMT

I would be interested in knowing what the memorial with the three men, the one lying down and reaching for someone who seems to be in water, is in memory of.

Happy Grammie: 14th Jul 2006 - 22:38 GMT

Being half Irish (but not hungry), I would like to know what this sign is all about. I live in Canada but visited Battery Park in New York City last year but never saw all these great monuments.

Merchant Marine Memorial: 19th Oct 2006 - 19:33 GMT

I don't know if Happy Grammie is still around, but the memorial is to the merchant marine -- the men of the shipping companies who ferried goods (and sometimes troops) to Britain during WW2, at great risk of German U-boat attacks. The memorial is based on an actual photograph. The guy in the water did not survive.
