The Green Mountain State

My girlfriend and I took a trip to Vermont's capital city a few weekends ago. Quite a great little place. I can't help but get a good feeling about a town when its public art looks like this:

The trees are a bit of a draw up there as well:

We were actually a few days early for the fall foliage, but we didn't mind. Besides, great 19th century architecture knows no season, particularly the magnificent Greek Revival Vermont Statehouse:

I'll end with a great quote I saw about elm trees in the State House lobby:

Ah!! I love the guitar bug!! and some of these shots (#2 in particular) remind me of Bob Ross paintings (that is meant as a compliment--I love Bob Ross).

Did you take any other pictures of in the town? I've heard it's a really nice city and has done a really good job at retaining it's original character.

I do have some pictures of the town on my 35mm roll which I haven't developed yet. I'll try to get them up in a later post. It is indeed a really nice city; lots of bookstores, record stores, and coffee shops, if you're into that kind of thing.

i wish i had a poster depicting a beetle playing a guitar while on it's back.

Montpelier is the only state capital that doesn't have a Mcdonalds....

little ukraine: 20th Oct 2006 - 21:32 GMT

I saw a poster with a beetle on its back, once. No way for it to get up. I really wanted to buy it. The only two chains in Montpelier opened rather recently - Quiznos and Subway. Well.. does Ben & Jerry's count?
