I've got to think of a way to cobble together an Aeron chair and a Segway. I'll need a holder for my Treo and iPod....

I like the electric three-wheelers that the cops currently buzz around in. I once convinced an English friend that they were community cops who had ice cream stashed in the back. I told her that she should go and ask for a Cornetto. She was halfway there before she realised I was pulling her leg.

I'm no expert, but they are an upright personal conveyance. I believe that they are easy to ride (you just stand on them) and you can zoom around without falling over as they are gyroscopically centered. People who love technology and who have lots of money buy them. They look quite funny, but I think that they will probably turn out to be useful in the end.

im not a big fan of segways, but i think the 4-wheeled segway "centaur" looks pretty cool!

i recently rode a segway at an office party. i had a blast. but, as it was pointed out on another post- from philadelphia - it is difficult to look 'cool' while riding a segway.

somehow...it seems silly to me. what if the bad guy decides to hop over a fence? segways...in all their infinite coolness...don't exactly hop over fences. not really good for crowd control. not exactly bulletproof. um...yeah...

in the year 2052, i will be 110 years old and i will be riding a segway to the office. all manhattanites will have them due to the fact that there will no longer be taxi cabs in the city. trucking as we know it today will be restricted to the outer limits of the city and conveyor belts will take produce and merchandise to its assigned locations and stores. a chip will be placed conveniently under the skin of your right wrist where you can pay at payment centers for anything you want to buy. of course the merchandise will be transported thru tubes to extracting locations around the city to be brought to your home. you will work in a cube and at 1pm your seat will automatically turn into a lounge that will hold your body at an angle and you can nap till 3pm whence you will return to your work.

Jack, you are cyberpunk! I'm wondering if electric sheep dream and checking my wetware (no, I'm not being raunchy -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk). I don't think there'll be offices in the future. I think it's an overhead that can be cut out by better communications systems at home. Soon, we'll all be connected by 100% fiber optic networks and wifi clouds. Just watch out for the Snowcrash.
