welcome to the wonderful world of developers. as you may already know, developers do not care for human beings. they detest them. they feel humans should not get used to things in their hometowns because they will only die in the naxt 30 to 50 years and their condos will last longer. besides, think of all the money that goes into their greedy, grimy, sticky little noobs of hands. i guess you can see i hate developers. developers always come back with the same old statements that what they do is for the betterment of people, better homes, better shopping and they create jobs. thats true but they can build on open land, instead of tearing down our favorite landmarks.

they're showing dr. strangelove? geez, that sure is outdated! maybe if this place were a little bit more "hip" or "with-it", it wouldn't be at risk of being destroyed.

jeeff: 20th Nov 2006 - 14:53 GMT

hey now i love that movie. the whole point of a repertory theatre is to show classic older movies in addition to hip new ones.

jeeff: 20th Nov 2006 - 15:08 GMT

also, in regards to jack's comments:

most non-landmark buildings today are expected to have a 30-35 year lifespan by their designers. pretty crazy huh?

also, i agree that it's important to build on "open" land instead of tearing down existing landmarks, but it's important to make a distinction between brownfields and greenfields. rather than paving over endless swathes of valuable fields and pastures, redeveloping brownfields (formerly used or contaminated sites within an urban area) is the way to go.

i love that quote from the movie: "gentlemen, you cant fight in here... this is the war room!" lol...

groovehouse: 20th Nov 2006 - 17:43 GMT

Dr. Strangelove is the midnight movie! That's why it's on the marquee. The theater shows first run art and independant films also.

Its not being torn down because of the "outdated" movies they show.. Theyre shutting down because their lease is up and its not going to be renewed...
