The Olympic Rings and Flame
[previous] :: [next]When I drove past Montreal's Olympic Stadium shortly after the opening of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, I noticed something I had never seen before. The torch above the Olympic rings had been lit.
THE OLYMPIC RINGS THE GAMES OF THE XXIst OLYMPIAD This article has been viewed 1187 times in the last 8 months zagg: 25th Aug 2008 - 15:35 GMTThe rings look like they are in great condition for being 32 years old - or are they newer additions? EvilGentleman: 26th Aug 2008 - 02:27 GMTBased on the plaque below them, I suspect they are originals. But this is one of those cases of my not knowing about something I have driven by many times, due to my eyes usually being on traffic. zagg: 26th Aug 2008 - 03:42 GMTWell Evil, I'm never on the streets of Montreal; but all the same:thanks for watching the road instead of the pretty shiney silver things instead :D EvilGentleman: 26th Aug 2008 - 13:44 GMTShi-ney. Nice. I want to devote my life to wandering around the streets, picking up shiny things. zagg: 26th Aug 2008 - 14:59 GMTThat is infact your next photo assignment. Wander the streets and photograph shiny things. GO! Vanesa: 22nd Sep 2008 - 01:40 GMTthis actually wasn't temporary. the torch stayed lit all throughout the olympics and all throughout the paralympics as well. EvilGentleman: 22nd Sep 2008 - 13:53 GMTThank you for commenting, Vanesa. I think we actually agree, since what I meant by temporary is that I believed that the torch was only lit during the period that IOC-approved games were happening. I suppose the next time we will we see it lit would be during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
