Eco-Quartier Graffiti

Eco-Quartiers are little government agencies peppered around the city where subsidized compost bins and guides on environmentally friendly living are distributed. Ah, how I love Montreal!

Ah yes, this was put up this summer on Pierce Street, a little residential lane that runs between Sainte-Catherine and de Maisonneuve a half block west of Guy Street. I turn down this lane on a regular basis, as it is the northbound leg of my downtown parking circuit, the path I use while orbiting the area waiting for someone to pull out of a parking spot. I think the city was concerned about paint getting on the parking pay station, so they forbade painting behind it.

But if the city was really serious about this street, they would fill in the nasty pothole in front of the gopher at the left of pic #2. The street is so narrow, that when I veer around the pothole, should anyone parked on the sides open their car door, there is no way to avoid the collision. And for cyclists, this street could cost you a wheel or two if a car passes you at the wrong time.

A side note - Aaaaaggh! You're taking shots of things that I have seen for a while almost daily, but never took a shot of yet. Then again, the back of this block is about to become the John Molson School of Business, a part of Concordia University. It makes sense that a fellow Concordian would wander by here as well. Also, you seem to have a better eye for graf than I do, probably due to your passion for the urban form. So maybe I should bring you to different parts of the city where I know there is good graf. Come to think of it, family obligations kept me from attending Under Pressure 2006, but there should be a lot of new graf in the vicinity of Saint-Laurent metro now, especially in the little park south of Sainte-Catherine on Saint-Laurent. Hint! Hint! Just study my series to see what is new and has yet to appear on citynoise.
