Peter: i noticed the rear-view shots; nice technique. they threw me at first as everything wasnt in reverse. tricky!
i love these little series that are borne from the everyday banal stuff... whether it be passing through...... PJS: These posts are so fascinating. I grew up at Lawrence and Huntington. Went to John Welsh Elementary, then Girls' High. Mos.t of my friends went to St. Edwards at Seventh and York. I remember the...... jameth: Than Bros. is the McDonald's of pho... EvilGentleman: jeeff, would your comment mean that the Don Valley Parkway is usually somewhat noisy? I know autoroute 20 (the Quebec end of the 401) here is loud enough that it drives most people nuts. And...... CE: The leather (cuir) shop in the third picture is near a co-op I stayed at for a couple weeks prior to moving to Montreal. It's located on an intersection that they dubbed the "Axis...... Megan: Just an FYI to Dustin...there is a McDonald's in Norton. There's also a Taco Bell! That's considered "big time" in these small towns!... EvilGentleman: Or perhaps it is the vile habit of coffee-drinking that is to blame. As you can see in these (unfortunately fuzzy due to my imperfect camera) pictures, there are at least two coffee cups each...... EvilGentleman: I think you are referring to poutine, Susannah. French fries covered in gravy with curd cheese sprinkled on it. Even McDonald's serves it around here.... EvilGentleman: Far as I could tell, the hats in the first photo were either straw or bamboo.

Secondly, I must admit I miss New Brunswick. I have not seen it since 1989, and have not lived there since 1980....... EvilGentleman: So far as I know, drinking in public parks is only permitted at certain events where permits are given for the sale of alcoholic beverages for that day or days, and the event organizers are...... EvilGentleman: In May of 1989, my best friend Mike and had been driving for 6 days when we arrived in Las Vegas around 1 PM, and rather than continuing on, we decided to stop there for...... EvilGentleman: Hmmm, could you imagine building a Starbucks or a McDonald's (preferably with a standard 30-foot Golden Arches sign) on the roof of a highrise, as a distinct structure piggybacking on the host? Better still, a...... EvilGentleman: I suppose it is possible that the processed ham and bologna that the rabbit preferred may have had some non-animal product mixed in with it, but he was definitely eating meat. Although his usual favourite...... EvilGentleman: Actually, you **did** get the new fine arts, or EVA (I have no idea what the acronym stands for) building. It is the one with the "hat" and the obtuse-angled facade on it's upper stories,...... EvilGentleman: Actually, I think the blackness of the snow depends on the quality of the pavement it was scraped off of, among other factors. This is the parking lot of the office building complex where my...... SadStateOfAffairs: Rich - come back soon - a lot has changed since '94 - the park has been renovated, boathouse etc...the founders of the Kings still live in the hood but they have gotten older too....... EvilGentleman: K-Money: You wonder why I was in Cabrini Green at 1:30 AM? I was passing through, of course. Being hungry and needing a break after spending all day on the road, I went to the...... EvilGentleman: Thank you for your insight and your sharing. When I look back and reflect upon my time spent in the remote nothern areas of this country, I find that I generally loved it, but sometimes...... Devon: As a motorist and a cyclist (double agent) throwing garbage back is a little agressive and you're asking for a fight. I had someone d0 the same thing with a McDonald's cup and I...... Peter: its rare to get chips that look that good unless youre at a ##pomme frites## stand or a non-fastfood place... as opposed to the pre-fab, extruded skinny/greasy mcdonald's variants. i love what they call "steak...... Dickriqulous: All due respect to James, but Central Park is truly special. Quite a bit more than "for the tourists." Especially up near the Harlem end, where it is far from a "circus-type atmosphere."......
