What an enigmatic name. Who is this graf artist with literary aspirations, and will I ever meet them?

"A Street Kid Named Desire" is a Bad Religion song from about 5 years ago.

where's a good place to climb up onto the viaduct these days? a lot of places along the line have full fences around them ... esp in area of peco etc.

there's the old entrance on Noble St, but that is gated now it seems.

vz: 11th Sep 2005 - 03:13 GMT

the entrance on noble st... either go under the gate as there is a bit of a gap, or to the right of it, along the precarious and decaying wooden support structure along the "outside" part of the bridge (in this latter case, you might want to keep one or both hands on the fencing and be ready to grab on to it at any moment). Once you get to the junction part south of Callowhill St., all is good and easy. You're most likely to see two kinds of people up there: camped-out homeless and architecture students.

melvinpa: 18th Nov 2005 - 16:46 GMT

thanks for the advice, vz. it proved most useful and i found it quite ironic being that i'm an architecture student trying to find my way on top of the viaduct.

Jamie: is that ironic in an alanis morisette sense? lol

surprising septa never scrapped that copper catenary wire. still quite a few bucks hanging up there.

rdgguy: 12th Jul 2006 - 04:30 GMT

Don't touch that copper. Beleive it or not, it's still charged with 11,000 volts of electricity. Several vandals have found that out the hard way.

I came across this web site while researching the Reading Viaduct. To my surprise there is a photo here that was taken at the same location as the one that I'm posting with this comment. Though I can't recall the exact date that I took the photo I'd guess that it was sometime between 1978 and 1981 and it was taken from a train inbound toward the Terminal. Ch, ch, ch, changes.

Septa guy: 26th Mar 2008 - 06:28 GMT

why are those wires still juced?septa or who ever would save money cutting them off. I'am going to go up there some time, hope I don't get hit by a goast train:) and with all that brush up there are there a lot of bugs.
