Swans at Night
[previous] :: [next]
last night i took a late bike ride down the queensway past the south edge of high park. i stopped at the southwest corner of grenadier pond near ellis ave as something caught my eye out in the water. floating in the darkness were two luminous swans. amazing how the simple curve of a neck can be so serene.
and then psychadelia overwhelmed me

Peter: 23rd Jun 2006 - 17:44 GMTwow, great shots, man. i can definitely see how the psychadelia could suck you in, too. i love the inky, purply sky also.
EvilGentleman: 23rd Jun 2006 - 21:15 GMTThe city lights reflected off the clouds provided perfect illumination for a shot taken at 12:45 AM (assuming your camera's clock was set right). It never really gets dark there, does it? Unless the power goes out... jeeff: 23rd Jun 2006 - 22:22 GMTsometimes when it's cloudless it gets fairly dark in spots. otherwise, not really. however keep in mind those are 20 second exposures. EvilGentleman: 23rd Jun 2006 - 22:33 GMTWow, 20 second exposures? So what was the light source behind you that made the grass reflect green? Every time I try this sort of stuff, I get a severe colour shift, usually from whatever the artificial light source was. jeeff: 23rd Jun 2006 - 23:31 GMTthere was an intersection nearby. my camera is a point-and-shoot but it also has good manual features. i use those when i shoot at night. if the colour shift continues to bug you, just "fix it in post" as those in the film industry say. luckily in this case i didn't have to do any colour correction.
jeeff: 17th Sep 2006 - 07:27 GMTi went by here in the daytime and the whole area is full of poison ivy. there are signs. how did i escape? Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
