One of the nice things about where I work is that it allows easy access to many neighborhoods - Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, and Clinton Hill (radiating outward in a counter-clockwise direction. Can anyone figure out where I work??)

Some of the outer neighborhoods are a little far to travel to on foot during my lunch break, but until I get my bike in here, I can always hop on the subway for a stop or two and walk back, snapping pictures along the way.

On this particular day I decided to finally head out to , the much-blogged about building in Clinton Hill. I suppose one could say Broken Angel is the Brooklyn version of Don Justo's Self-Built Cathedral, with its owners incorporating everyday objects into the art and architecture of the building to create a truly singular edifice. There's been a whole lot of red tape surrounding the building of late, and I am certainly not the most well-informed on the case (though I'm sure an internet search would yield plenty of information, and there are probably regulars here who have something to say about this). In any case, the building, unfortunately, does not look as remarkable as it once did. Here's what I saw:

Nope. Just some spackle.

I was just as taken with the building across the street:

I even got a shot:

and later, a shot:

Walking back, there's plenty more in the neighborhood to see.

CartLegger: 31st Jul 2007 - 13:52 GMT

Yeah, I live here one block west of there. Nice being in the center of everything--for now!

I havent lived in Brooklyn for 35 years, but was the church-like building where the norwegian seamans-church was ?
