Nearby to the eco-aware sculpture garden "a lifetime ahead" i spotted this fellow, folornly asessing his overgrown and bird-shit stained kingdom.

Sculpture Matrix by Chris Beardshaw, i am told is an experiment into the contradiction between nature and humanity. It is intended primarily to provide a canvas on which individuals may explore the relationship between the human mind and the natural landscape.

The garden quite effectively demonstrates the tendency for society to categorise and compartmentalise in order to aid appreciation. It is a multi-faceted space where mans desire for control and fear of unclassified results in imposing a grid of uniformity on nature, who's own energy and boisterous freedom shows scant regard for such intellectualism. Above all, the garden is a celebration of the intrinsic beauty of the individual natural components.

Sculture Matrix, like "a lifetime ahead" refers to itself as a Sculpture Garden, though I prefer to compartmentalise this one as an outdoor art installation, and this is the perspective in which i chose to appreciate it. The installation has evidently been in place some time and has been spuriously contributed to by the digestive processes of countless winged-beasts. The perseverance of these contibutions has less to do with respect for its contributors than it does with general apathy. Or perhaps its all part of the ideology.
