joey: 8th May 2006 - 03:16 GMTi think the blue steel bridge on top is the superior ave bridge. it connects cleveland east side with the west side. the river and the flats is in the middle of both sides. David: 22nd Sep 2006 - 23:01 GMTThe top bridge is the Veteran's Memorial Bridge, or the Detroit-Superior Bridge. I don't know what the little one is called, but it's a pretty neat swing bridge. It pivots in the middle, which means half the bridge is over land to clear the Cuyahoga for the big ol' ships that manuveur the curvaceous river. Cuyahoga supposedly means crooked river in an American Indian tongue. Beadle and Tatum: 1st Dec 2006 - 16:06 GMTalso in the background you can see lorain-carnege bridge, where [http://www.citynoise.org/article/5318/in/cleveland@oh] that post was shot. Then there is the Rapid transit bridge, the redline after it leaves ohio city, before tower city. The lift bridge in the background is for choo choo trains. MGerlich: 11th Dec 2006 - 21:23 GMTThe red bridge is the Columbus Ave or Road bridge, which is a link between the East and West banks of the the river (and The Flats) colavitos ghost: 10th Aug 2007 - 06:45 GMTi recently found out that "cuyahoga" doesn't mean "crooked river," after all. that would be a bit too literal, don't you think? the name of the river, in fact, derives from a native american word meaning "jawbone"....poetic!
