They're called 'lenticular' because they're lens-shaped. I've seen clouds like these before that looked like hollow mushroom caps, or fuzzy contact lenses, or moldy igloos without floors. Saw these returning from Mt. Rainier. First time I saw them was at Rainier as well, so they must like hanging out there...this was shot from a moving car.
This one was taken after I pointed the clouds out to my brother & his gf & he stopped the car so we could snap it.
And this was taken in (what I think was) the town...
It's the 'Other Side" because I've previously posted pictures from the Paradise area of Mt. Rainier, which is pretty much due south of the peak. These are from the 'Sunrise' area, which is in the northeastern area of the park.
