Wembly Stadium from the Train

author: elaine : London, UK

wembly stadium is the national football stadium here, and is famous. they knocked it down recently and have built a new one. my brother says that big arc was all lit up every night before the olympics, and very seldom since. this seems to be indicative of something typical and abysmal to me, but maybe i just don't have enough seratonin

Cigarettes

another in a series of photos looking down to the ground. i expect there will be more. sometimes i wish i was the sort of person who could get into naming things in a serialistic way. but i didn't.

Teddies!

author: elaine : London, UK

image 7457
it is my smalltime and modest belief i am very clever. i was walking home from drinking in a pub and saw these teddy crisps in the street and i said to my friend david "quickly! give me your camera, i need these teddies for citynoise" and lo, he gave me his camera, i took the photos, i downloaded them from his 'new device' onto my evidently klunky pc which took four hours to digest his camera (that is exaggeration btw) and now he has gone home and here, i have uploaded them as well. i should get a gold star. p.s....

Full of Gas

author: elaine : London, UK

image 7274
in previous articles i have shown the gasworks empty or thereabouts, their crowns standing proud with only sky behind and air inside (or water), but currently they are fat and full, for our heating and ovens to keep us toasty. small ones like the one at kings x pump like hearts, but these are relatively big. this first the one you can see from outside where i live and this one sneakily peeking out between buildings in the sunshine and here are the rest, down by watching queen, all badly photomerged together. i didn't get a canalside snap that day, as...

Broadway Squat

author: elaine : London, UK

image 7271
corruption, my dears, is everywhere. broadway market is just over the canal from me, and just before london fields. i usually meet ian and charlie there for our walks to viccy park. our traditional meeting place had been the little georgia, which was a mad russian outfit with a proprietress who swanned around in wild get-ups which made her look like an aristocrat who had fled the revolution, and which was the workplace of several women. what was great, for us, was it was a nice place that did decent coffee, and which had an astoundingly liberal take on large...

i suppose these streetlamps were designed to be climbed. well this one has been anyway, and two hands now cup the lamp.
