It has been decreed that this freeway shall go underground. Three miles of trenches, five-hundred feet wide. They're dynamiting the old bridge tonight.

Stray Cat

image 2302
Stray cat, living in an abandoned lot near a gas station, with her similarly-colored sister. Attempted to catch them with no success. The lot where they lived will be covered with townhouses soon.

Construction Workers #2

author: ian : Houston, TX

image 2119
Brief: Work in my neighborhood. The Texas Medical Center happens to lie in a floodplain. A tropical storm caused (many) millions of dollars of damage and lost research (transgenic animal lines, equipment, etc). This is a hundred million dollar flood mitigation project, and part of it puts a 10x12 foot underwater drainage duct practically underneath my house. Earlier post: Construction Workers #1
