The Twins (or Twinkies as we like to call them) finally got us to pay for their new stadium. In a rip off Wrigley-ville in Chicago they're already calling it Twinsville (coming to you in 2010.) It will be nice to have baseball outside but it's next to the Hennipen County garbage burner (we don't bury trash, we burn it.) There's talk of using some of the burner output to heat the seats. They already use some of the energy output to heat and or cool parts of downtown. It's right behind the Target Center. There goes another parking lot...

Backyard Spider

So this guy showed up about 2 weeks ago. It would show up right at twilight and start building (or rebuilding depending on the wind and birds I guess.) At first I wasn't sure I liked it building it's web across half my deck. It was big (3 across inches with the legs) and it had a stringer that was at least 10 feet off to the left on a plant. But since it was very Charlotte's Web like in it's punctuality I got to look forward to seeing it every night (even saved it from one of the cats...

Tall Man on the Prarie

Rising up from the plains west of downtown Minneapolis. There are several sculptures on the General Mills corporate campus and from what I could tell you can wander about and look at them (I did not see any "No Trespassing" signs.) and across the street they have deeded some land over to the state for a permenent nature preserve. It's pretty nice considering it's in the armpit of two highways.

Great Use of a Fallen Tree

What do you do when the tree in your front yard splits in half? You make a cool Arbor out of it. This is also the debut of the fits in my pocket, all weather (that's what the box says, we'll see) 6Mp camera so I can do more Citynoise stuff. Still getting used to no viewfinder though.

Cherry and the Spoon

Just off of downtown is the Walker Art Center and it has a sculpture garden out front. This is THE Cherry and the Spoon. It's also a fountain (water shoots from the stem) One of the more photographed sites in town. I couldn't resist the desaturation trick on this one.
