On my second day in San Franciso, my friend C. took me to City Hall, which is a grand, ornate, domed bulding. It's Pride Weekend, and the rainbow flag blows festively over the front steps.
C. used to live in New York, where City Hall is surrounded by gates and barricades. What she loves about San Francisco's City Hall is that it is so open and accessible to the public. I took these pictures going down the 3rd Street detour by the ballpark, San Francisco, CA. Not sure what the street name is, it runs parallel to 3rd down by the water in China Basin. The last one is in Bayview/Hunter's Point.

San Francisco, from the Coastal Trail in the Marin Headlands:
This is part of one of my favorite local hikes...walk out my front door, 20 minutes puts me in the Presidio National Park, then across the Golden Gate Bridge, and just like that, I am on a beautiful trail, and a bit behind where this photograph was taken, the trail crosses the ridge, and I leave city views behind (except for tantalizing glimpses across the ridges).
