Artic...... GGP: glad you caught that cloud--been admiring that!... GGP: wow, barry. you sure do get around!
those cows look pretty spooky in that first shot--eyeshine rocks!... GGP: I actually realized there might be 2 toms in the shots. in the top shot, there's a larger bird leading the group--that is the tom. in the bottom shot, I think there may be 2...... GGP: I wrote a lot more before 9/11 than I have since. That experience really sucked something right out of me. I think this may be the only "writing" or note-taking I did during that time,...... kc: I'll vote with GGP on the red-tailed, though I am no hawk expert. Still, size looks right and I think that stripe-y necklace around the neck may be somewhat diagnostic. Plus it looks just like...... GGP: it's like birdwatching...you have to really learn HOW to look in a particular way. you teach your eyes to look at/for certain things and to "read" the bird quickly, before it's gone. this makes me...... GGP: the whole area is bleak...strangely underpopulated and netherworldish. the kind of liminal zone that's harder and harder to come by our neck of the woods these days. I felt ashamed, somehow, for shooting pictures while this unbelievable thing was happening....... Peter: piranha erem: yes, most of the people in the areas surrounding this spot are against it... the plan involves exercising ##eminent domain## to force many people form their existing homes, which will allegedly be assimilated......
