 Being an old industrial town, there's not that much in the way of imaginative architecture... so it was quite a surprise to find this little 1970s gem in one of the 'working class' neighbourhoods near the park...
224 Robinson was built in 1972 by what a local described as 'hippie types' amongst the usual mix of duplexes and single family homes on the scruffier side of town...
Curiously the neighbourhood's developement was such that you can make out a history of early to mid-20th century architecture as you climb the hill
Which makes this house stand out all the more

 Bob Ward: Remembering Lennon. With Silence.

I was originally going to write something about where I was when John Lennon was shot and killed 30 years ago tonight.
But that's a memory that's so draped in shock and sadness that I thought it best to share with you a Lennon related story that carries a message of hope.
As you may know, there was never a funeral for John Lennon. Instead his wife, Yoko Ono, asked people to pray for him. And she called for Ten Minutes of Silence on...

 Our next visit to the little city of Schenectady - seen here in this 1950s postcard..
...is to Erie Boulevard which was once the in-town route of the Erie Canal until the 1920s when the canal was rebuilt as the New York State Barge canal with deeper channels larger locks and more utilisation of adjacent rivers.
Postcards presented an ideal image of its run through the city...
...but by the 1920s the canal reeked of wastes and there was pressure to fill it in.
So that factory workers could drive their cars to work...
...as they do to this...
