Why Did Bushwick Burn?

I am an educator amateur historian who is working to answer this question for a Summer exhibition at the Brooklyn Historical Society. So the question is, why did the flames rise up the early 1970's to claim over 15% of the housing stock, spread fear and uncertainty, and lead to a 30% population reduction, from which it took a decade to recover? What do you think? Hint: There is not one answer

Wildlife Control
