Humboldt Park Story # 45623
wasn't for you id be crying
sick lost dopesick dying
stand beneath steel girders
trains roar overhead
like unleashed dragons
and beneath me metal grates
that hold an unstable city
from losing its shape
cold metal and old brick
and,but for you,id be freezing
in indiscriminate winds
and far off howling
and id shiver with slick tears drying
but for you id be blind
stumble in this miles wide darkness
with the blank look of the hopeless
that my own eyes have seen before
in old cracked mirrors
that flat reflection of no future
and a past that chases me thru
nightmare corridors
til i wake up
see your face
and realize its all over....
Exactly how I feel about winter!
