Previous Day :: Next Dayjeeff: very festive. jeeff: that reminds me, my room in tokyo cost $537.95 USD/mth. jeeff: i'm just curious cuz sine's our "man on the scene".
not all art is about converting cynics. i don't think james joyce's ulysses has won over too many of the masses, but it's still widely touted as the best novel of the 20th century. i've never managed to finish... ea: yep I was just talkin about the nametags in regard to the quoted article. too bad they're so much more notorious than anything else, it doesn't help spread the street art love or convert any cynics. iknowsanddobutyou'dneverguess: Have you seen more of his stuff than his tags? if you dont think his tags are art, see the rest of his work. he pushed boundaries in other ways. And yes, it's one person. OBEY is Shepherd Fairey's deal, but he gets help. He's an exception though. writers... ea: I notice you didnt ask for MY opinion....hehe
but um
working artists do have a reputation for taking themselves quite seriously. which I must venture to say Neckface does, if he thinks his giant block letters are "art" or pushing any boundaries. it looks to me like negligable creativity or... hilda: im sure with the right music on and actually being there, it mustve felt perfect
quite hard to fully capture in photo :) walter: reason #84576974396304 why i love brooklyn jack: what ships? i dont see no ships. jack: yes, i got them mixed up. the tower, isn't that the place where all the people got locked up. basil rathbone once said, "take them to the tower", oh my, oh my. jack: is'nt this the place where they locked up a lot of people and killed them there. i thought it fell down. is this london bridge. london bridge is falling down, falling down. wow great shot. i will use it as a screensaver, thanks. jeff: i can understand why the super's mad at neckface - that's his livelihood. but "artist Peter Caine"? i can't imagine why a working artist couldn't at least see the playful side in neckface's work. especially going so far as to provide angry quotes for a newspaper article.... Anonymous (pool-70-111-224-108.nwrk.east.verizon.net): yeah the neckface tag is everywhere.
these are fucking awesome. thanks for sharing! jeeff: cool! it's one of my favourite bits of japanese cultural trivia. i asked many japanese i met about it and most of them replied that yes, they had eaten katsu for good luck. usually their moms will make it for them. Peter: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kit_Kat Peter: btw:

and sort of odd, but fascinating:
www.breaktown.com/dog/index.htm Peter: wow. i just learned something! thanks jeeff :) jeeff: katsu in japanese means 'cutlet'. for example, tonkatsu means 'pork cutlet'.
also, serikatsu means 'to win after tough bidding' and is sometimes used to describe passing an exam or interview. tonkatsu is often eaten before an exam for good luck. kitkat (kito-katsu in japanese) also releases a green-coloured... elaine: monster Peter: that graf you see behind the truck's hood in the first shot is this:
fuzzytank: but i thought you already had him? toweringfigures: that mouse is the shit! i love it! elaine: the golden hour of the year Scotsman: Hey guy's, these are photo's of St Petersburg and not Moscow, just thought you wanted to know. Peter: ...and japan. A Certain Individual: I've seen the "Neck Face" tag all over Williamsburg. (And also in the East Village.) vz: heh.. i guess here they made sure they wouldn't have to go back and cross it out again for a very, very long time. Peter: yep, thats definitely some pretty light! weve had similar light here in nyc lately... and its so golden just before dusk. i think it has to do with the angle of the earth's rotation and the changing of summer to fall... Peter: theres an escalator like that at the WTC PATH stop... it has a sign that originally said "this escalator will be back in service on 5/1/05"... the "5" has been crossed out, sequentially, every month and as of this morning, reads "10/1/05".
needless to say, the escalator still isnt running. it... steelisreal: hmmm the digilux, that is a nice camera i used to have a leica rangefinder. i love the quality, i hope my canon 20d will look as nice. kp: LOL! Anonymous (FAC44.facsmf.utexas.edu): I would love the robots, and I would love to live in a city with so much street art. sine: a leica digilux d1 steelisreal: sine what camera did you take these with?? Peter: nice. very "urban decay". Peter: would you guys mind taking this "battle" somewhere else, like maybe via email or something? its sort of off-topic here, and i for one am sick of reading this shit every day. i mean, if you wanna talk graf, thats cool, but the insults and trash talking... are just annoying. steelisreal: lol these crap pictures have been viewed over 2500 times, that is funny.
i just wanted to show the crowds around the cars and the security guards, maybe my title was a little bit off.... Jamie:
The old lady of Soweto Anonymous (sotn-cache-1.server.ntli.net): Its been ages since iv been there. Black and white photos make it look so much 'doomier' (?!) and is fitting with how old it is. coolage. Jamie: A few of the silver "WAR" tags have been buffed. What a shame. I found this new one in an alleyway though. It appears to be a horsefaced young lady. nice.
stay tuned for more developments in the horncastle street art saga SpankyHam: Yeh reminds me of "final destination" - ""jaaakkkeeee!"" (i think that was his name) M2!: battle at legal?
hahahahahahahaha Jess: The title/caption for this is what makes it. fuzzytank: all i have to say is
'ouch'
that place can shorten your lifespan Jess: purdy Jess: Movie for you: The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal - It even takes place in Portland Jess: I have to admit it took me a moment to realize what I was looking at. My brain kept trying to pick out an image (which incidently it chose to beleive it was seeing an otter). After I understood what was going on I REALLY like this. Very cool. Jess: That's what I figured it would be. Way to go on cheap advertising. You know people go in search just to find out what the image is all about. Jess: I love that guy! He's definetly the coolest guy on the corner... candy gurl 409: WHAt Is that Jess: This looks like a valentine's card. Laura : What beautiful photos :) M2!: no thanks wasto' paint EXAMER : DA ACE SAT 12:00 U DOWN.
