Previous Day :: Next Daycolavitos ghost: wow, venice beach looks pretty amazing! i would expect it to be kind of cheesy, but this shit looks real. seems like the authorities don't care about people tagging up the beach....is there some kind of unspoken agreement about that? aer suzuki: sporks don't grow on trees, bill. i think these are cool photos, there's a theme running along and the spork makes a nice exclamation point. aer suzuki: yup, though only two choices : tofu teriyaki with either yakisoba or rice. i hadn't really noticed the lack of vegetarian stuff at the time, since i was on a noodle hunt and only zeroed in on the yakisoba... jeeff: great entry! you really convey the strong sense of place in these photos. i've seen venice beach portrayed in movies and video games, but never before has it been "real" to me. American automotive history wrecked: Why is it so that everything has to die??? This GM site is culturally important also - it already has historical value. They should have never wrecked it! What a mistake! Brad: Awesome, looks like the same race as this Lucas Brunelle video. If you haven't seen them, his other videos are here:

[Ed: enclose hotlinks in double square brackets.] Rich Brand: These shots remind me of how cold it gets there in the winter. I too grew up in Ithaca and worked at the Gun Co. briefly (63-64) and Taughannock State Park, incidentally, before migrating west like others posting here. I'm sure we climbed all over most of the... Karl M, Ex New Yorker: Great shots, would have loved to see some actual tunnel shots under the Hudson river, but these are very well done, thanks. Karl Jim Knapp: Great story and pictures. I grew up on E. Lincoln St. & Aurora St. If you look in the reflection of the windows in the 'Wig Shop' picture, you will see the house I grew up in (white with black shutters). I worked that Ithaca Gun for... barry: nice photos barry: nice one Michelle: Been there. Taking our teenage twins today. Not particularly impressed with Jim (kind of crazy and sometimes mean), but definitely a must see...especially for Colorado natives. jeeff: sweet serendipity. jeeff: experiment and rtfm (read the fucking manual - a phrase common to computer nerds). take multiple exposures of everything you shoot. if you're shooting through a window, you may need to manually set the range to infinity. jordan: heya ppl ive also got sane's tag to keep up his success R.I.P. sane kevin bracken: when looking at skyline comparison blog posts, people often use many different angles when comparing skylines. i am glad that you used straight-on shots from afar. however, i would like to see comparisons start to use slightly elevated shots near sunset: it gives you a better idea of how it... Biff: While I've'been reading Ulysses and I think Rosy fingered Don...Seriously I used a Zoom on this which kept the colour but blurred everything. How do I avoid this?
Biff groovehouse: The knitta crew have a pair of crocheted sneakers on some powerlines here in Houston. I haven't gotten a picture yet.

Another Lost Traffic Cone by jeeff joey: modeled after the berlin wall rp: damn JA you got your fame...mothafuckaz still talkin bout you
always liked your shit jethro: A lot sure happens on Steinway Street. Who can forget Cloudburst at Steinway Street ? joey: you got us loving the buildings that you love.
full frontal urbanity. joey:
a train, pulling hobos through the desert joey: the ice cream trucks here in oakland play christmas songs in the heat of september to keep their customers cooler. i always wondered about that place called edgewater. joey: a sharp observation. but what do we call art that is past the post-modern era? zagg: how glorious (I was thinking that before I saw CG's comment, I swear) --- I want to re-create the walrus and make it as like, a door knocker- hahah. zagg: I've only been to Kenstington twice, and that was 4 years or so ago and yet I think I know exactly where the house behind the truck in the 1st photo is. zagg: do they have something delicious & vegetarian for me?
zagg: The photo just posted above makes this lil' Ontarian be amused and have sweet memories of flying above the western part of the US and going "WTF ARE THOSE CIRCLES?" WindyCity4life: Their is no glory in public housing, especially in Chicago.Of course I think it's wrong that CHA is making those people live on the streets. For some reason public housing will always be a problem in cities across the usa and the world, thats the way it will be in a negative way.Maybe... procyon: the "waca waca waca" really makes the article. :)
i spotted him once on the way from l.a. to chicago and would also like to know what these farmy circle things are.
aer suzuki: nice find...i know this is an old post but here's a related link anyway:

~a collection of old found photos. aer suzuki: excellent, i love seeing this type of random public commentary. aer suzuki: ok this might be considered off-topic for citynoise but what the hell : i finally made it to the frye, pictured above, to see the henry darger exhibit and i strongly recommend it if you're in seattle or if the exhibit visits your city...
darger was a reclusive, odd guy who... Previous Day :: Next Day |
