2005 530 sine: is the lowest among the 25 largest cities in the United States. Since 1991, New York City has seen a continuous fifteen-year trend of decreasing crime. Neighborhoods that were once considered dangerous are now much safer. Violent crime in the city has dropped by 75% in the last twelve years... aer suzuki: awesome post! haven't had a chance to get out on the road this summer too much, these are cool to see. nice colors too. Andrew Smith: Like it - what exactly are they though? aer suzuki: yeah very cool shot. David: The top bridge is the Veteran's Memorial Bridge, or the Detroit-Superior Bridge. I don't know what the little one is called, but it's a pretty neat swing bridge. It pivots in the middle, which means half the bridge is over land to clear the Cuyahoga for the big... Biff: The Walrus has brought us honour and wealth... What is that style, Niles Crain
Beaux Art? zagg: Aww, reminds me of the view when I flew to AZ. EvilGentleman: Crop circles gone commercial. Damn alien investment firms... EvilGentleman: I suspect it's a $ sign, meant to signify the high cost of sneakers. Almost seems Banksy-like. Abstract urban spoof of the death of a very commercial product. chiamattt: Those remind me of North Korean shit. zagg:

I know, I'm so artistic that it physically hurts, right?
Reflection while focusing on a Kurt Halsey print. ksedge: the "s" looks like the logo for sheraton hotels. Jon: obviously if mario does a jumping headbutt, something cool will come out. Come on guys, anyone can see that. SLO : We Paint 4 life!!
SLO : I think all the guys and gils who paint are true artist stay
R.I.P SANE Kat:
a couple of pictures where in (inadvertantly?) ended up in the shot. I guess. It was only half an accident. This thread is cool!
procyon: the second one is my favorite. my aunt lives in huron by a beach that looks a lot like that, and the crane toward the left reminds me of the crane some developers apparently left near her beach years ago and never moved. plus those colors are great. jeeff: don't worry, the 'double d' store by my house (a variety store and bargain basement internet cafe) is still open. colavitos ghost: glooooooooorious! colavitos ghost: double d (an ice cream store on my corner) just closed for the season last week. what a pity. susannah: These are great I especially like 4 and 10. I'm interested to know what kind of camera you used for 10, it reminds me of Ansel Adams for some reason (probably the detail on the trees in constrast to the sweeping grandeur of the bridge). jeeff: i just finished rereading the odyssey. i love homer's description of each day dawning. Peter: as a new yorker, i empathize with some of the points made in that article... Katy: I don't like it myself. A.A. Gill puts the boots to this kind of architecture in this month's Vanity Fair. www.vanityfair.com/commentary/co . . . ent/articles/060918roco02 Andrew Smith: Welcome Reita
Agree with you on the amount of new-build.
Every spare bit of land seems to have been/being built on and the traffic gets worse with it.
Glad you found the site - some great photo's from all round the world. little ukraine:
i really love that there is a camera mounted on the building to the right. though it's clearly well behind you, it is pointed right at your face in this image. very cool. Peter: i meant random in regards to the anti-ratner topic of this post... little ukraine: that first shot is really difficult to interpret without context. i'm guessing the pitch-black is sky: is that taken out of a top-floor window, with the roof extended out from the building? Random Commentator: Not random graffiti, that's Reskew ACC, a really talented fellow. GGP: nice! makes me wanna play some old johnny cash train songs. john: I heard that neckface and Gregg Griffin are fighting because Griff has been going around New York crossing out necks tages. If you are a neckface hater you should like Griffin at Blah Blah Gallery. reita gregson: hi i have just found this amazing site....My uncle Dennis Gregson has moved from his old stables in Irlam to a smaller holding in Astley Rd Irlam. His son Wayne Gregson now looks after the few remaining horses, dogs, hens etc! It is amazing how much Irlam and Cadishead has... Biff: It's already being called the tampon building... lil stevie: love all the cleveland bridges Peg Maass Labiuk: We found a Buddy Bike at a scap metal yard here in Victoria, BC. It's yellow and has an original "Buddy Bike" seat, decals, and head tube badge. We want to restore it - it's rusty and has no wheels. Where can we get this Phil Wood... buddhavegas: Its Wellington New Zealand, I live within walking distance of the place. Nickle, Dime, Quarter: Thanks for explaining your point. I see where you are coming from.
My favourite vantage point for the skyline is at the very end of the Leslie St. Spit (on the lighthouse hill). From there, it screams "Toronto" to me.
It is a great spot because it gives you a sweeping... Nickle, Dime, Quarter: Not sure about narrowest, but there is a building in Hong Kong with a smaller aspect ratio (height to width). Michele: Ok....here's my story
My dog Milo passed away on May 2, 2006. I was and still am grieving from losing him. Anyhow on the day Milo died I noticed this raccoon which I have never seen before. At first I wasn't happy because I use to live in the city and... hool: i snuck in to a penthouse condo of that skyscraper when some friends were staying in a hotel room in the building. you can see the window in that photo, at the very top of the curve. it was still under development at the time so the door was unlocked... anon (c-69-248-145-25.hsd1.nj.comcast.net): i need a translator. doesn't anyone speak the english langage anymore? Brad: Cool, I'll trade you our Abe for your Bill.
Vicctor defer: Orillia, Ontario has the best skyline in the world. EvilGentleman: Time to start pressuring for some changes, then. jeeff: our ability to increase recycling % is limited by provincial legislation on the quality levels required in compost materials. ontario's standards are higher than some other provinces. (former mayor) mel lastman released a report in 2001 that set a goal of 100% recycling by 2010, but he relied... EvilGentleman: Damn! Good stuff, keep it up! jeeff: indeed it is: www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=101423
it got 7th place at the 2005 emporis "best new" skyscraper award: awards.emporis.com/?nav=award2005nominees&lng=3
regarding records: "The new tower, which has increased in width from 10 to nearly 15 metres, breaks no new architectural ground." - Christopher Hume

i think they may have claimed the record early on, while still... Previous Day :: Next Day |
