Previous Day :: Next DayKaren: What a trip! The pics are great. I love to explore places like this myself. I wonder if there are any places like this in Salem, Oregon? Peter: curiously, this was my 666th post on citynoise :-0 Franny Wentzel: Not even close! The buildings of the New York Plaza are by far the most ass-raping ugliest buildings in The City. Even worse is that they're the first buildings one sees coming up the Hudson River. The Titanic took the easy way out rather than risk having see them one... autisticando: At least it's interesting. Peter: webmd: child's isnt shuttered anymore! theyre currently renovating it... i have some recent shots of it- its going to be the subject of my next post... webmd: I think the fact that it stands by itself, is shuttered up and clearly not in use (or much use) its what is most ugly about it. And yet, not far is that really cool, eerie old Child's restaurant, also shuttered up but fascinating in its faded glory.
The way this... My Laptop Is Evil: IMO, it looks like it just needs a paint job and some modernized protective gratings.
It does look bad, but not completely beyond hope. anon (dhcphosta30.scar.utoronto.ca): Wow this is certainly a post that resonates with me. I've had several experiences of bike theft and am EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED about the whole situation. My most recent 'loss' was this past summer while visiting Kingston. Nice small town you think, but no K-Town is just as bad a Toronto... satan: the police are too busy apearing to clean up crime with visual crimes like garffiti so that they apear to have control of the law. wich is rediculous because everyone i know is a criminal including the police. politics befor everything. Peter: dangerduckie: if theyre in cleveland or detroit, it would be hard for them to qualify for the title of ugliest buildings in new york, yeah?
sure, nyc has more run-down and burned out places- it is, after all, one of the most urban/blighted/largest cities in the world... i guess im focusing... dangerduckie21: that's the ugliest building you can find in NYC?!! Come on over to Cleveland or Detroit, we can show you some buildings that make that thing look like a mini-palace...hell, this one doesn't even have any burn marks or busted out parts of walls! quarkwiz: The Metro Mall, on Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village (at the end of the M line), is a horrific, brown-walled, brutally ugly monster of a building. I'd say it should definitely be on a shortlist for Ugliest Buildings in New York.
jeeff: plane wing! i swear i recognize the twisty river in photo #2 from my own flight from toronto to tokyo. doing it in winter made me wish i could be like survivorman and parachute down into the snowy wilderness (and survive). anon (cpe-68-175-92-187.nyc.res.rr.com): I always thought the tall black monstrosity on the east side that looms over central park was the ugliest building in new york. bloo_mountain: It's like Albert Speer meets Orwell's 1984, circa 1997. Does that make it the ugliest building in New York?
Probably just in the running. sythero: interesting to note that Oppel was only born 20 days before the murder of his uncle (or was it?) Meeting of Styles, Bronx NY: and peep that GOAL throwie....
BathBeach: In December of 2006, I moved from Salt Lake City to Manhattan. I lived there around 66th street for half a year. [rent: $2,500 a month]. After I had been here a while, I realised that Brooklyn is not as dangerous as I had thought. I now live in Brooklyn... bam: nope, just my initials Sasha: My bike got stolen yesterday. Its a purple Miele with a basket on it. It was given to me to borrow by this lovely woman and was taken right on Bloor Street at Jarvis. Apparantly bike thefts there are insane these days.
Anyone have an idea where to go to find... Nizo Vandolow: This Is A super alsome place!! Shout outs and probs to every one in and out it!!!! Wicked-One: that piece is sick bro. keep on boming
BNS crew
Boming Non Stop ^^: beautiful~ Re: Think about it.: Okay, let me break this down for you. Look at www.hutchpd.info and you will see how many shooting that occur in Hutchinson. Not to mention stabbins, meth finds and other "big city" crimes. I live in Brooklyn NY. I walk from work every single night and have never been... Russianblue: i have a 2 year old silver crested cockatoo and sumtimes hes a darling but then hell go crazy and bite us for no reason and jus misbehave we always give him love and get him out dispite this reason he has so many toys so i dint think thaat... Michael: I grew up in Tonkawa and let me tell you it isn't a borening town. Tonkawa is a quiet town yes, but the people of Tonkawa love to get out and go to local events. Tonkawa is big in sports, it has had a champion football team for many years... Jamie: i didn't notice the bird first time round. I wonder is it a pet bird? Jamie: This is definately a different pet bird style than we've seen before. Nice catch. little ukraine: oh gosh... it's not very high. maybe you could try to scale it from those pictures... how tall is a truck, 13' 6" i think? so maybe clearance on the southern state is around 11 feet? purely a guess little ukraine: hey BAM, do you have any link to BAM? Brooklyn Academy of Music, I mean. Nova: Hope somebody can help - trying to find out the height of the bridges on Southern State Pkwy - that is, the clearance? Does anyone know, or have a photo showing one of those signs? Thanks in advance! mancy#: when people walk through they can feel the fear but standing there and watching it makes you have no fear at all makes you strong........ Jason: I'm sorry to agree with Gentrification, The old Southeast Side used to be a mecca of beautiful homes with flowers and families enjoying life in the 1970's-early 80's. The area was majority Irish, Serbian and Croatian. Today it is a pit of violence and has become a ghetto.... Ink Hed: I really like the bird nesting in your hair.Nice touch.
