Try to make it to our show at the Brooklyn Historical Society from 5/23/07 to 8.28/07. I am hoping to bring a lot of these ideas and elements to the fore there, although I am just the curator.
Also, I really appreciate your voice in this posting. That... jack: to you upfromflames my thanks for bringing this to our attention. this is what make citynoise so interesting and at times informative. you are an interesting person with a good eye for photos and an intelligent report on urban dwelling. gary: jack, yes. i rode a steeplechase horse. i was very small. i was born in '52 in brooklyn and grew up a few miles from coney island and steeplechase park. on sundays my dad took us to coney island. steeplechase park was more magical to... jack: many of the buildings constructed in the late 1800's that was used as housing by poor hispanics, blacks, jews, polish, german, italians and irish are still standing today and in livable conditions and very expensive. no one came in to help them live confortable, no one came in to... RobotW/Roots: whats bank paper exactly? i never heard of that. i just been using butcher paper. the only problem is that it has a wax backside and that makes it harder to make it stick.

Peter: its slow at night ;) Cay: What's the L like at anytime day or night? Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Queensboro bridge, how I love thee... jim CY: Hey JA name is up in almost every wall.He is Cool Peter: that vespa can probably do 75 km/h, stock, if its got a 150cc engine in good shape. with a tuned exhaust system (or other mods) installed, you can squeeze a little more horsepower out of your average 150cc, and do a little closer to 100km/h... JOY: I had the opportunity to visit Cabrini and the Schiller School. A group of young ladies from the school have taken pictures of the neighborhood, their homes, before they are gone. It's not about the buildings but the families and sense of community and history. It's called the Neighborhood Project... Peter: totally... it reminded me of a snow version of the laocoon group:

EvilGentleman: And of course, you do realize that the more we debate, the more hits this page generates. I hope you are okay with that, or shall we just stop? EvilGentleman: Nancy, Nancy, Nancy. I was not attempting to belittle you in any way, I just happened to find the name to be extremely funny, due to the very different meaning of the word "bimbo" in English. Terribly sorry if you are offended, but these things are bound to happen, in... Nancy D'Elia: I hate to have to be the one to tell you that despite your belittling me and my business name you do have affinities with my discernment of the finer things in life - such as chocolate-covered roasted almonds and ceramic-top kitchen tables. I bought two identical to the one... foxy: yeeah da ikea underpass is clean get graffin i wanna see some sick shit down there like last time i sar ''real'' wich was quality and a ''jesus lives'' stencil wich is still there so get ur cans and get ur man'z and start graffin it up there... dave wilson: Man!

They are not expected to open for a few months, if at all. Water and smoke damage was quite extensive, not sure if they were affected by any actual fire damage or not. upfromflames: get the word from HPD:
www.ci.nyc.ny.us/html/records/pd . . . 48bushwick_initiative.pdf upfromflames: just what is happening there?
www.citynoise.org/article/6459 also looking to move there: thanks, jimmy legs. from prior experience looking for cabs around 2am i always got the "where to?" question prior to getting in. i was never rejected when i said chelsea, but now that i may say "bushwick" i wonder what the reaction + price will be (starting the trip from... EvilGentleman: Looks like a pretty normal day of snow, fog and smog to me. You know, I never noticed the revolving restaurant on top of the Delta before. I wonder how I could have missed that? And from the style, I'm guessing it has been there for my whole life, so... Instorenow: Also, how long does it last if you put it in a jar or something and when heating it up, do you mean micrwaving it? Instorenow: I use bank paper, its thin and light so i paste two against eachother. It easy to distribute. GGP: great shots. the first one touches my heart. time goes by. Previous Day :: Next Day |
