in response to Pho in Seattle

Katybee, London: My Grandma was born in Sackville st,in 1922. I'm trying to find out what the area was like then. Any ideas?

in response to Regent Park Revitalization

caiyuemei: i didn't think than brothers (university branch) was that bad, taste-wise, but their menu is pretty limited (no appetizers, thus no spring rolls :'( ), and if you're eating past nine (or whenever the restaurant closes), sit with your back facing the kitchen, otherwise you'll be staring their impatient asses...

in response to Pho in Seattle

Elicar: If something is dear to you, take care of it. Nobody cared ENOUGH for Benny Farms. Otherwise, it would not be in such a state of disrepair. Would you rather be sentimental and let the mosntrosity of urban decay be and waste a valuable large piece of real estate? I...

in response to The Destruction of Benny Farm

Jess: My favorite pho in seattle is Green Leaf in the International District. I think it's on like 8th and king. It's cheap and tasty!

in response to Pho in Seattle

Informer: DIA is just TOO creepy! www.anomalies-unlimited.com/Denver_Airport.html

in response to Airport Scenes 1

Peter: hahahaha. i dont know which is worse... that there are so many flies... or that theyre all dead!

in response to Lunches and Sandwiches

EvilGentleman: I really have to dig out some of my old pictures and get them scanned. I know I have one that shows me sweeping up dead flies. Like about 2000 of them. The hazards of damp cabins in Nunavut...

in response to Bishop Castle: Another Self-Made Masterpiece

Loree: Viet Nam in is pretty good. Much better than Than Bros.

in response to Pho in Seattle

jameth: Viet Nam on Broadway/Stockton in . And yeah anything on Jackson in Little Saigon is typically good, especially when you have to have a child translate for you or point at the menu. Pho Cyclo is greasy, overpriced but they have bubble tea.

in response to Pho in Seattle

EvilGentleman: I love the contrasts in the last shot. Great find.

in response to The 700 Block of South Watts Street

to noname: you must be thinking of dieting, something your fatass must need to do.

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

to noname: its dying,not dieing,dumbass.

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

EvilGentleman: Hmmmm, now that I think about it, I believe that a KFC sign bucket would make a really cool hot tub.

in response to Poulet Frit à La Kentucky

anonymous: As someone who has enjoyed the tangential nature of Jack's comments for quite some time, I can't help but wonder if it is not so much what he has been drinking as much as it is what he has been smoking ;-)

in response to Poulet Frit à La Kentucky

Peter: eg: i quite enjoyed the alaskan brews... you dont really see them much (ever? i never had) here in , and i always like trying new brews. i recommend it, and will definitely pick some up the next time i come across it in a local market. www.alaskanbeer.com

in response to Pho in Seattle

EvilGentleman: jack, I'm not 100% what it is you were drinking when you made those comments, but you really should share some with me!

in response to Poulet Frit à La Kentucky

pullthestars: I quite enjoy Pho Cyclo up on broadway.

in response to Pho in Seattle

Peter: so... perhaps we can get past all the pointless name-calling and someone who actually lives in can post some photos that prove their point? otherwise, this thread is just becoming a big, endless argument between a small handful of very opinionated people. i, for one, live in and though...

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

EvilGentleman: I gotta ask, how did the Alaskan Amber ale taste?

in response to Pho in Seattle

Coyote Mama: one on Aurora near PCC, one on Capitol Hill, as well.

in response to Pho in Seattle

noname: Mcpherson's downtown has nothing to do with it's economy. If you tried to take that as a indication of economic growth you would not see anything. Downtowns are dieing as towns spread out. The fact is that Mcpherson has been more active in looking for new business. If you want...

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

Peter: i just came across this interesting blurb: www.roadsideamerica.com/tips/get . . . hp?tip_AttractionNo==2535

in response to Babe\'s Muffler

Pho Phreak: The place at 14th and Jackson is Pho Bac, I believe. It is, actually, pretty damn good, though I don't go there often, for some reason. Old habits die hard, I guess. www.thestranger.com/seattle/GetO . . . e/GetOut?restaurant=24422

in response to Pho in Seattle

EvilGentleman: Well Elicar, my previous article on this particular location has become something of an online focal point for those who lived there during its heyday, much like Corsatki's articles. Thus, this page is intended for the audience of former Benny Farm residents first and foremost. And from their perspective,...

in response to The Destruction of Benny Farm

Croquet Metaphor: than brothers makes me want to vomit. pho 900 or any number of places in the ID. I went to one last week on 14th and jackson-I can't remember what it was called, the front was all glass and there was lots of fake bamboo-what was pretty good.

in response to Pho in Seattle

Pho Phreak: I gotta second the recommendation for Pho Viet Anh. www.phovietanh.com www.yelp.com/biz/pho-viet-anh-seattle

in response to Pho in Seattle

iheartretards: Pho Viet Anh on lower Queen Anne next to Bamboo Garden and down the block from the Opera house. It's the best Pho in town, I can't even palate nasty Than Brothers anymore. That shit is GROOOOOOSSSS!!! They don't use MSG either if you're concerned about that sort of thing....

in response to Pho in Seattle

Peter: totally. i say go for it. because the back-and-forth bickering here is largely meaningless (and somewhat laughable, no offense) to us outsiders; perhaps some evidence of what everyone is saying might be worthwhile- i know it would paint a much more vivid, factual picture of beyond people's dubiously motivated...

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

Peter: i gotta second it as ... the new stuff on that wall is much more intricate and better; its generally ok to go over a simple piece with something of higher quality, which definitely seems to be the case here... so are most stalled trolleys casualties of their [pantograph] popping off...

in response to What Happened to BEMS?

Tex Re: Peter: That's a good point, someone ought to take some pictures of the downtown area on a Sat. afternoon and some of McPherson's downtown and lets look at the difference.

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

Tex: Yes I loved Hutch, I especially loved it when I was able to leave town and come down here to Texas and get a job that paid over twice as much as what I was making up there. Now I can afford to live in a nice new home, and...

Peter: i find it funny that despite all the above critique re: the photos, etc... that no one else has posted any better ones of ... hmm. what are all you hutchinsonians hiding? heh.

Anne Priestley (nee Rigby): Hi Cyril It is good to hear your memories. Do you remember the Old River? I lost a shoe in there when I was little we had been trying to catch sticklebacks. Had to go back with my Mum to find it but it had disappeared! I remember...

in response to Irlam, Manchester

Peter: i think youre referring to , as it has areas referred to as "upper east side" and "upper west side", whereas generally doesnt. to me, the "upper east side/east side" is where folks move that are a) rich b) interested in not having a typical experience. as far...

Peter: from what i could tell on my recent visit, is undergoing major condo-fication, similar to what is seeing these days... hmm.

in response to Needle Vs Crane

Chuck Steak: Hung around the Benny centre and pool quite a bit during the late 70's early 80's. As long as you didn't look for trouble you generally wouldn't find trouble. Anyone remeber the Benny Gang? or the "Belsen Boys" of the Sex Pistols era? Nice to see a re-development provided it...

in response to The Benny Farm Condemned Housing Projects

re to loda: and can you bring up any good points? i seriously doubt it.

in response to America\'s Most Boring Towns: 10

Elicar: EvilG, please explain why it would be a "destruction". Wouldn't be more appropriate to use "restoration", "resurrection". "refurbishment", etc.? In my mind, destruction is putting something out of commission, making something unusable. This is just the opposite, making something uninhabitable, habitable again. daz my 2 cents worth.

in response to The Destruction of Benny Farm

Joe Gonzalez: I grew up on Knickerbocker Ave., 799, between Halsey and Eldert...My father owned the corner grocery, on the corner of Eldert and Knickerbocker.....We moved in in 1964 and I left to see the world in 1976...US ARMY....Live in New Jersey now and remember Snoopy from the Halsey Bobs....Snoopy died in Nam...along...

janet: Hello Again Len--Do e-mail me that knish recipe. (The very memory of them makes me faint with pleasure.) We never had a TV, but when Uncle Miltie came on ("We are the men from Texaco, we're known from Maine to Mexico . . ."), I parked myself in my...

Len Lipner: KNISHES OK, for anyone who wants to do his/her own cooking, I just wrote an email to Stan and to Alma, containing a sort of recipe for knishes as I remember them from Brooklyn. ("Sort of" because there are a lot of judgement calls that are entirely up to you). Send...
