Previous Day :: Next Daychiamattt: Also, I have been in Seoul for just over 4 years. It is time to move on. chiamattt: You and your payphone lust. chiamattt: I like Seoul a lot. It is definately a great city, but I just don't like my job. After this contract I am going to go back to Toronto for Christmas and then make my way to Osaka and Teach for a year. chiamattt: Face masks are worn to keep dust out of your mouth and nose. The air is pretty dirty here. There are yellow dust storms from the Gobi Desert that hit this place every spring or so, and a lot of Korean restaurants still use coal to cook food. Scooters are... spygirl_t: This is very cool. We need more grassroots and community projects to make people more aware of the problems facing the growing city. And what better than initative that involving students.. they will one decide our future.
I might see you there on Saturday...
spygirl_t: Sweet and snoring? ... they don't seem to work in the same sentence. lol
But I love the candid nature of your pics.... GGP: those are nice sculptures and cool to see them in the snow. GGP: great pantoum. that's a fun poetic form, isn't it jack? fits nicely with the garden theme, the soft cyclical feel of warm summer day. real nice. maddermadcat: Haha, that was great! Hilarious. I live in Toronto myself... I had no idea we were being invaded! spygirl_t: hahaha .. thanks for that needed a good laugh. I'm guessing that it's not your favorite place to be? cisco: The Beaver is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I missed the movie in March. It's playing again at the Bloor Cinema on 4/20, I can't wait to see the documentary. It Looks great. galaxy: ahhhh, greenpoint. brings back memories from the year the garbage collectors went on strike in the summer time. nothin' like the whiff of diapers mixed with rotting food in the humid summer of nyc.
Tyfoid Kid: All right then, I'll do it!!! Tyfoid Kid: Oh and I think the first pic is someone leaving an offering for Pele the Goddess of Fire. That crater used to be filled with Lava until sometime in the 1920's. Tyfoid Kid: And be careful where you park when you're there.
Tyfoid Kid: I love my fixey.
I'm too lazy/inept to build my own. Bought mine on the internet at vandesselsports.com in New Jersey (came in a box.) That's that Schwinn you're on in the subway right? I like the mustache handlebars. elaine: fantastic, jack grange: wow,,, no jacked up pick up truck , no easy rider rifle rack , no confederate flag in sight ..?? but i bet thats his sister hes dating whos is the pic with him ....
Maybe he got kicked out of the clan and like Jed Clampet ,,,... jack: school for the super farmers jack: peter that was me and i had a great conversation with myself. elaine: mmmm gold-en elaine: you do get bored, don't you? hool: although, my photos are shot more and more from behind, so it would appear that i'm avoiding confrontation, but i don't see it that way. hool: thanks everyone. tyfoid kid: no i don't worry about that. people do get in my face, and others threaten to break my camera. it's very rare that it happens. fearing confrontation is avoiding life. elaine: was this in response to these? because if so, greenpoint needs to understand branding a little better... elaine: see it, be it, puppy boy! elaine: naughty man bad man, get out the damn river sally: well, it certainly does suck. sally: he came here in a time machine YOU built jack: yep, i ate there, it was great. jack: now you would think the females would be more expensive since it is they who bring forth new life into this world???? jack: peter i want to go to sheepshead bay to take some pic's. i have a great story about that place that happened to me in 1956. anon (ip68-229-176-16.om.om.cox.net): Those are awesome pics! I, too, have to add a nomination for honorable mention, and it's with no small amount of bias, my hometown of San Diego
spygirl_t: I love the light and texture on the water. Beautiful.
... He must be trying to catch tadpoles. Tyfoid Kid: The From Here to Eternity beach is on Oahu. I was only on Oahu long enough to go from one plane to another. I did get married on the beach where they filmed South Pacific, Lumahai Beach which is on the best IMHO (least spoiled and touristy) island,... Tyfoid Kid: This is really good stuff. I'd like to start taking pictures of people but don't you worry about someone getting in your face and wanting to bust up you or your camera? Jamie:
i don't know but here's another one Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I've heard the mullet described as the perfect hairstyle: all business up front and a party in the back. Peter: i love it, jack. ive really been enjoying your recent entries here... a'la: Ha ha ha! It looks like his barber jumped ship halfway through his haircut, and only managed to get the top part completed! Peter: the woman he was chatting with did notice. she gave me the evil-eye then muttered something to him, at which point he stayed facing away from me the rest of the trip (see last shot)... though i like to think he was just giving me some quality-time to view his... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: marvelous. The girls pose in the first one is magic. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I expect that when you sport a hairstyle like this you are intrinsically unaware of everything and everyone around you. So I'm not surprised that this guy didn't notice you taking pictures on the train from about two feet away. spygirl_t: I have an urge to hind under the desk in fear.. Scary shit! No if, ands or buts about it. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I prefer inexpensive...
(thanks, Jack, for the laugh!) spygirl_t: YEAH! More pics!!! I love the first shot...
looks like Dufferin, but I've never seen it look so sunny. Jamie: suck machine is out of order
so suck yourself
and save a quarter elaine: "slip into silent slumber, sail on a silvery mist, slowly but surely your senses will cease to resist......" Jamie: wow Jamie: this made me laugh out loud. ifydiyjhh elaine: eek! elaine: i used an outdoor hoover when i worked at a sports ground. the generic name it was called was a 'donkey'
this is a very kickass version (boom boom!) i got a pic of the bomb on the bk bridge yall:
i know it shows u more of kez 5 bombs but ya can see smiths sane bomb to the left. jack: you would be if you had a large head, wide chest and huge bones. but being a female you would be cheaper. thank goodness for that. jenna: chiamatt: I guess the next question should be, what happens next? 195 days means alot of pictures.. I'm hoping.
Thanks for the new pics... It really puts things in perspective... I love Toronto, but I long to be back there out of this silly rat race. Maybe I'll get to... Peter: yeah, i wouldnt count on anything too fancy from this place, jack... Peter: i tend to avoid them, especially when it rains, given the higher-than-average ratio of incidents involving inadvertant electrocution thanks to ConEd's manky infrastructure... jack: i guess they would'nt have my favorite, grilled chicken on olive bread with brocolirabe and anchovies. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I wish I was structurally of quality. Gabi: Greetings from the gratings jack: i could use one of those for my living room. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I like gratings, I think that their design is kind of beautiful. Except that one time when I was tottering along on heels and I got stuck and I had to be rescued by Hell's Angels. jack: y'know pete, that could have been the long lost treasure map of the gold that was hidden on the docks at the brooklyn navy yards. Peter: yes! slithering silently through the streets of suburbia, seeking the rest of its compatriots... elaine: is it climbing out of a crack in the pavement???? aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Jack, you know how to tell a story. Perfect delivery. jack: great photos, but why are some people wearing face masks, i see that more and more these days? in the surgery hospital there are they backed up with patients, can they keep their heads up. what do you think? jack: 1st pic - girl thinking, 'i should'nt have worn this green skirt, it draws too much attention'.
2nd pic - the smoker reels in disbelief at the obscene thing sticking out of the wall.
3rd pic - a women wondering if she should stand next to the orange pole or the blue... elaine: nice. a bit like those conertina cage lift doors.
lovin your finger in pic too, petey.... ;-D best friendly! Peter: its finally made its way over to brooklyn:
jack: well peter we could lay the building down on its side and i bet within 20 minutes there would be another hundred guys with boards. kc: wow. what a tale. jack: these nick names were the first part of their last names, one was Mc amd the other was misch....., Peter: i passed that school once, while getting lost on the way back form the airport. nice story, jack... Peter: that second shot is great. id love to ride my longboard on it, like a giant glass halfpipe. Peter: i think its funny that the tag on the wall in teh forst shot says "LSD"... Peter: RAD. i love the korea pics. and the anal surgery clinic... heh. that cracked me up straight away. nice... Kenia: Houston's skyline is smaller compare to the others show above. But I can't agree w/ you more.I live in Houston, so I definately appreciate you put up that picture :)
And we are still growing :)!!! GGP: i wonder is ea is still out there. i have to tell you, i miss your posts. GGP: oh, jack! Micah: At last! I love reading your stories. I have one question with two parts: does 'mick' refer to a protestant as I believe it does in a certain European island nation? And is 'misch' short for Mischung as in mixed race? I always wonder if these terms... Micah: Jack, wonderful. chiamattt: those are really nice pics dude. That looks like a pretty new mill though. Why is it there? You should investigate. Might just be something for people to see after five minutes of clearcut. Gavin: Does anyone know if you can abseil down the side of it ? I heard there is a company doing this. chiamattt:
See? Snoring clinic. That place is sweet inside. chiamattt: Awesome pics hoolsky. Love the broad at the bus stop. You'd tear up a place like Osaka or NYC. chiamattt: sorry. no payphones peter. ummm this is on the way home from work.
Some pics from a taxi and some while walking.
I went into the anal surgery clinic during a doctor hopping mission. The doctor was really...errr up tight about filling it out so I left and went to a... Jesse:
I think that Houston, Texas deserves a defininte mention. It is the nicest, cleanest, and most modern skyline in Texas in my opinion! elaine: we've got a linear park here, along the canal www.mileendpark.co.uk/summerflash.htm it's improved the neighbourhood no end EvilGentleman: jenna: I understand completely. Who could blame you for such a neat dream? Here in Montreal, the only way we will get to surf is if a dam on the St. Lawrence River breaks, and that would most likely be more like a tsunami than a choice surfing wave, and... simplyantwon: hey! so, my friend staci (whom you've all met) tuned me into this whole blog thing. i think it's fantastic to read some of the opinions and perspectives of my unknown neighbors. so, i wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. i'm antwon. i'm a newer resident of the... drea: Wow..those are amazing! luv the first one drea: I absolutely LUV your pictures! Alex: if that was my sink i'd be furious (lol) Elicar: I know someone in Seoul. He is in the animation business. He used to work in Manila. Came back home to Canada; had a hard time starting over and accepted an offer in Seoul.
We all have stories to tell about our experiences. Sometimes, when a place is not too kind.... Biff: Madame, do you like Kipling?
Alas Sir, I do not Kiple... chiamattt: Yes. I'll have more pics of Seoul when I get off my ass and go outside with my camera. hahaha I live here currently. www.drivkid.org for information on how long I have left. haha
chiamattt: The more cities I see the less I miss Toronto. Living in Etobicoke doesn't help much either I guess. There are things about Toronto I miss, but for the most part...I just don't like the gritty attitude of most North American places. This isn't to say that I think Seoul... Biff: Hey, This should be in the NEW YORKER, that's what is all about. EvilGentleman: Damn! That is awesome. Nothing else I can say... EvilGentleman: I dunno about this... My Things I Hate About... series is about those little things you encounter in everyday life that drive you nuts, thus giving people an outlet to release some of their pent-up frustration. This seems to be headed in a totally different direction. I personally have always... a.l.m: I'm an American and I'm a history major with a concentration in European History. Since I am of Irish ancestry, I have naturally done substantial research on Ireland and my heritage. I am curious though, can someone who is native give me an honest answer about why Irish... Biff: You are so right! The outdoor bar patios are open, at least on Church Street. But it is not Paris yet, until
the chestnuts blossom in April...

I was not consulted) jack: hahaha, i think you went to the pub first and then bought the daffodils. jack: no graf and very clean. thx for pic's i love subways. reminds me of 30 years of commuting. jack: peter you caught the shadows and simplicity of the seat and the peds, it looks like a european train station. very good photo. jack: my goodness i'm meditating now just looking at these pic's. jack: instead of tearing down the west side highway with all that wonderful cobblestone, they should have made it a pedestrian way. new yorkers should have more green and more free walking space. Biff: There is an I in sprng... Somehow we had a beautiful, day I bought some daffidols and went to the Pub. Elicar: Let's make it prettier further...
YAY! Martha Stewart did her number!
champ: hey i thank u forgot one
Elicar: Jack is on a roll! Yeah! champ: i thank that i have to good with peter that was the best thanks for the info Elicar: I'll pay the flat rate airport limo fare rather than grabbing the train. Especially from Seoul? Whooo...that's at least 13 hours to O'Hare? Then from O'Hare to Pearson? I will be in no mood to jostle in a train.
Perhaps, you should convince the very "sweet" Hazel to work with David... jeeff: jack, great article. champ: wow that is a changeit naver rains in la that si y u can go with bush he is cuzin globle wormin champ: if all of u kids do not no what that meens it is a song just to let u no yourwelcom jeeff: agreed, i'd never heard of this before and i'm glad that now i have. jeeff: dude they're building a subway line out to york u. hell hath frozen over. chiamattt: I used to grab the 45 Kipling or ##? Martingrove bus home from Kipling Station when I was in High School. I got a lot of reading done on that daily journey...that is for damn sure. chiamattt: Ahhhh Kipling station...the station in the middle of nothing very useful. When I see pictures of Toronto's pathetic subway system a single tear runs down my cheek. Any big city that does not have a train or subway connecting the downtown with an airport does not deserve the distinction of... Elicar: Thanks Peter! Lemme see what I can do! Peter: i love it! more toronto subways!!! yes! Peter: lol!!
