Previous Day :: Next DayPeter: i cant believe that no one has mentioned the phallic nature of these constructs, yet. i mean, just saying...
really, it seems to be all about mankind's need to build constructs in homage to the human cock.
stabbing skyward,
making with the broadcasts. EvilGentleman: Architectural and urban planning discussions on citynoise... Detailed information on citynoise creates a new reference destination on the web?
I can see the headlines now...
Awesome work, great information. Thanks so much. This is one World Almanac addict who wants to see more of what you can do. jeeff: very informative article, tho i think your enthusiasm for the space needle definitely clouds your objectivity a bit. a couple things:
1) the space needle itself was inspired by the stuttgart tv tower in germany, completed in 1956-- a 771 ft tall broadcast tower (which also functions as a tourist... galaxy: i'm curious which cop's shoe he almost spit on? was it the flat-topped, goatee copper? he seem's to be the most "emotional" about the ordeal. and that kid is about what...12? GGP: the broken glass is like the beginning of the universe.
the ruffles chips are like what would be left of George W. if I had 3 minutes alone in an elevator with him.
the cupcake wrap is like a sunrise.
these are inspired & inspiring image-selections. thank you, elaine. Myke: Wow, back from the archives. They were taken from the 14th floor of our university halls of residence on the outskirts of Salford, close to Manchester. Thank you Sarah and Spygirl for your comments. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I like the first one. A void in the gutter filled with debris. Much like my career. EvilGentleman: So true, chiamattt. Unfortunately, we seem to unite quite well in complaining about things, but seldom do we rally together to praise everyday things in our lives. However, there are two positive thing I would like to point out. Firstly, Micah has already posted a [[3298:Things I Love About Public... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Although I'm not sure if the Telecom Tower was ever technically an observation tower and it's not particularly pretty....but anyhoo, it nearly fits here.
GGP: wow, man, you could do a great book on this. that last one is a gem. sdbrown: So many robots. It's so good. xep:
As seen on University Ave in Hillcrest, San Diego, CA.
jack: i cant get over all those towers around the globe. very good job. also hool can we submit original poetry here. jack: funny but you see this kind of stuff all the time but dont pay attention to it. its interesting closeup
jack: 26- brooklyn supermarket old ladies who take your cart and you have to go find out where they left it when they realized it wasn't theirs. chiamattt: Hate is so much a part of our thinking, we have forgotten to make lists of the things we love. jack: must be fun to swim in those waters. i always loved waterfalls. kc: and p.s., these tailored google ads are out of control. U.S. Stick Flags on sale! (Lighters extra!) Catherine Penfold-Waxman: May I add:
BT Telecom Tower, London
A famous London landmark since the 1960s
Location: 60 Cleveland Street, London W1.
189m (620ft)
It had a revolving resturant open to the public until a bombing in the early '70's. Now it's purely for corportate events. As work started on Telecom Tower in 1961, I... kc: great post, great graf jest. EvilGentleman: By the way, thanks for the compliments, a'la. I neglected to respond properly there, please forgive me.
Now, does anyone have any personal tales of woe re: Grocery Shopping? EvilGentleman: The great irony is that it was hool's motorist vs courier post which grabbed attention on the CBC News website, and I followed the link here. After making an ass out of myself in that insane thread, I started browsing the site when the thread closed, and then I discovered... Hobart: This is strangely moving. And just plain strange! Hobart: I'm sure Hool's comment wasn't intended to be as terse as you seem to think it is. Probably just a little gentle nudging, and thats ok, everyone's opinions on such are fair, especially in such an unmoderated comunity as this one. Don't take it personally.
I really need to get... Hobart: This is a classic "Elaine" post. I love it! Focusing on the details you'd normally walk right past without noticing. Hobart: Ditto what A'la said. It seems to me that many new people are finding this site lately, and some are really giving it their all to add some amazing new content. I, personally, do definitely welcome the variety and new insights (and photos/text of new places!) that come with the... EvilGentleman: yeah, you are probably right, a'la. I can be a bit touchy at times. I was just so disappointed, because I have been waiting for two months to have hool comment on something of mine, and this was not at all what I had expected. But sorry, hool. a'la: Ok, looking at this again makes me really want to visit Ithaca now. a'la: Uh oh, looks like someone has had their windscreen shattered :-0 Wonder if they will end up torching the car? (Heh heh) a'la: WOW this is definately the most detailed entry I've ever seen on here. Good looking out! Great content, too. I now know a lot more about these structures than I ever did and I had never even heard of some of them. EvilGentleman: The muffin man! The muffin man! Nice shots, elaine. That first one is rather thought-provoking. a'la: EvilG, for what its worth, yr posts are among my favourite ones here, and thats saying alot! Keep it up! I dont think Hool meant any offense. I think he just takes the editering (sp?) of this site pretty serious, which I'm sure it requires at times.
And by all means,... EvilGentleman: Sorry, hool. From what I have seen, I have been encouraged by a large group of the regulars here, including the other 4 of your fellow editors. I shall try to keep your wishes in mind, but only to a limited extent, as I wish to express myself much in... elaine: especially for you... EvilGentleman: Oops, I hit "post" before finishing the last sentence. Every day should be Memorial Day, too. EvilGentleman: jack, if there is any subject that people need educating on, this is it. EvilGentleman: I assume that the photographing of other people's children is permitted in the UK, so long as the parents consent to the photographs being taken, and the photographs are of a decent nature. Otherwise, how would class photos be taken? EvilGentleman: Hmm, you may have something there. But since the burnt ends of the cigarettes smell so strongly, it would be akin to putting a bounty on dog shit: not for the faint of heart. Perhaps if the cigarette packs were made with a little box attached or embedded in the... Tim Horton: Since my name is Tim Horton, and my name is on that cup, the SUV rightfully belongs to me. :)
Seriously though...I think the Tim Horton's is missing an opportunity for some great PR here. Why not bite the bullet and award both girls an SUV. Imagine how good they'd look...and... EvilGentleman: Since Catherine's #38, perverts, seems to refer fairly specifically to the weirdos who masturbate on public transit, then I think there is space for:

GGP: sans serif, indeed. it is so streamlined and icy-cool, like the product it promotes in this instance. elaine: i wish i was. the uk can be quite liberal sometimes, but is as susceptible to moral panic as a certified hysteric sometimes. but we are allowed to jaywalk. GGP: the cigarette companies should be forced to offer 10 cent deposits on every butt, to encourage people to return their butts and reduce litter Elicar: The problem? Litterbugs! If there is that many butts everytime the snow melts, there should be an ashtray there. Not having one will not discourage smokers to butt out! Elicar: Mongambo, you are seeing it for yourself. Arun Singh Dicky from India: Ive not been to yongon but seen a lot of pictures and am sure its going to be on world TOURISM very soon. Its really beautiful with very nice people. It has to be brought to a real tourist destination. Arun Singh Dicky: Its a real different world seeing is believing-- JUST GREAT David Boyle: I can visualize each of those individual butts as a headstone for yet another willing victim to become a statistic. Our choices determine our fate. Butt, they say; it will never happen to me. mongambo: Elicar, your description is super fucking creepy, man. jenna: I love toronto and yes, I am a slave to transit. Elicar: Love dogs, I'd love to own one but I don't have the heart to leave a dog alone for 10 hours every day! chiamattt: I failed my first driving test because I hit the curb on a parallel park. I suck at it. Elicar: Now, that's really obscene! (What are you planting on my head?) chiamattt: I don't know. I felt it in my bones. Elicar: EvilG, I'd like to believe you, but my brother is so charming that you would have been more credible if you said that he bribed you with a beer.
