Previous Day :: Next Daychiamattt: I don't have a bathtub. :( jamie: the worst tasting coke i've tasted is Egyptian. I used to sell it on my fast food stall, but no one would buy it. Partly because the cans were rusty, but mostly because they were printed in arabic and no one wanted to buy "al qaeda coke" mark: check out the nw industrial area. there's several dead railroad lines to walk around, some interesting factories/warehouses (one that stores old floats from parades), and a couple abandoned, burned out passenger train cars. if i ever get time, i'm going to launch a new pdx urban exploration website with a... Peter: do it!! just search for graf trux and pick up wherever the series currently ends. trucks are trucks! lets see some of the montreal variety... EvilGentleman: Your graf trux are so detailed and artistic, and most of mine are so lame. I feel the graf trux I have shots of are interesting, but not worthy to be in your superior-quality series, maybe I should start a Montreal Graf Trux series... elaine: gone. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: lovely feet, Jack. elaine: why, i'm flattered!
::flutters eyelashes:: saxman: "Do you work in the brick building behind the Chestnut Complex saxman or is it somewhere else?"
I'm in the one story office building next to the Sobey's parking lot. Jeez if you think I could hit that new building from behind the Chestnut complex with a 3 iron you... Scott Sargent: jeeff: aside from public housing (which govts don't seem to do anymore), all new housing is marketed as 'luxury', and marketed to yuppies. that's where the money is. as yuppies move into new housing, people with slightly lower income tend to move into the housing vacated by the yuppies,... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I liked these hedges a lot. It's nice to know that famous people have gardeners. Peter: ahh, dr pepper! when i first moved to nyc in 1995, it was impossible to find dr pepper, and as a transplanted southerner, i was frustrated that it wasnt available anywhere. as a matter of fact, some people hadnt even heard of it, believe it or not... which was no... EvilGentleman: Buffalo, Oklahoma - population 1200, according to the U.S. Census of 2000
A side note, I wonder if the Diet Dr Pepper in Oklahoma tastes the same as the Diet Dr Pepper here in Quebec. I find that Coke tastes different in each American state, so maybe Dr Pepper does too. EvilGentleman: jack, your second toe looks somewhat crooked and misshapen, but altogether, your feet seem younger than I would have expected. By the way, if that second toe was straight, I think it would be nearly as long as mine Chris Erb: And yes, the train station. There is an embarrassment to the city. I plan on doing a post on it when I'm done my Sussex series. To people not from Fredericton, the old train station is a building nearly beyond repair and has been declared one of... Peter: the exact same thing- overproliferation of luxury housing- is happening in nyc... where is everyone else gonna live when they all get priced out for such developments? Chris Erb: I myself would prefer to see some low income apartments being built. Look around downtown, there are luxery apartments going up everywhere: this one, Saunders St., Chruchill Row, the old shoe factory (not luxery but not low income either), and now Victoria St. All we're seeing is high... saxman: I guess I'm not as hip as you guys and gals but I'm curious as to what you would prefer to see on this site? As Chris pointed out this is being built in an area that "isn't exactly considered the nicest part of town". My office is... sally: where's the beer? jack: is this forest lawn? i enjoyed this posting. very good and entertaining. sine: you should come over next time! jack: evil, you get a lot out of this, i'm happy for you. jack: andrew you got it right. things change! the things we grew up with are disappearing right before our eyes. soon, all of us will join the things that disappeared. people i loved and took for granted are all gone now and i can't talk to them anymore.... jack: hooray! since catherine gave the hips i will give the hooray. i used to think that demolishing buildings was a fun thing to watch but nowadays i kinda get a sinking feeling at destruction sites, but the photos are great and well done. sine: Let me know and you can rent our family's place if you like, don't think I can get any kind of discount though. I'll post more pics!
It really is a secret piece of heaven. jack: i want to go there. forget about europe, the netherlands, brooklyn, all i want to do is jump into those green blue waters and swim with the dolphin and whales and just live on the beach and fish all day, thank you for posting this place, i will take... jack: i'll have a cheeseburger, chicken leg, some shish ke bob and another cheeseburger please. jack: cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger........ Peter: indeed!
sine: ah, how things can change in a year's time. Chris Erb: I imagine people must not have been too happy about having a building blow up at 6am. I guess they wouldn't have to set their alarms at least. EvilGentleman: Well worth the grogginess. sine: oh how I miss England now! beautiful photos. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: You are a true collector of visual experiences. Very nice pictures. I say three cheers for Ian. Hip, hip... Andrew Smith: Natalie -I don't think the air raid shelters are there, though I may be wrong. The Kwik Save site is currently being built on with more new houses.
The horse stables have gone, I'm afraid. As compensation for losing the 'Jezzies' to housing, that area has been developed into a semi-wild... LINK: BIG RIP TO DAVID DIS SMITH MAN WAS A REAL ARTIST RIP VINNIE RIP LUKE BIG UP ALL OV DA OGC CREW 1

ian: Can you believe I went into the office at 6am on a Sunday morning to make these photos? That's the most amazing thing. Natalie Waterworth (Brophy): Do you know if the air raid shelters on Fairhills road on the way to quicksave( near Jezzes) are still there. They were on the bend as you round the corner to Quicksave and were behind the railings of the BWS ( beer wine and spirits) We used to... kc: Thanks, Sue, and good point, EG--a comforting thought, Chas. Addams goes to Hollywood. sine: RIP Underberg Bldg. ian: s/house/apartment|flat|condo|house|dwelling|whatever ian: Peter, mind if ask in email how the hell you buy a house in Park Slope when the cheapest decent ones I see in online listings are $500k? :) EvilGentleman: Good one, sine! sine:
Duck and Cover
vanessa vargas to BOC: ummm...you must have been high when you wrote that response talking about me being a realtor! i am far from a realtor...and i happen to live on menahan...probably not too far from you. as far as nothing being left for "us" - what are you doing to ensure... EvilGentleman: Maybe there is some product that was being sold in the store that is not compatible with owning a Canada Post franchise, or perhaps there was some structural, security or square footage issue with the original store that caused the building to be deemed unsuitable for a franchise.
As far as... Sue: Beautiful, poignant and weird. Thank you kc. Ram1: jesus saves was on my myspcae. but i deleleted him for writing the same thing on every1s page. my cousin still chills wit him. crazy duude . stay up1 Chris Erb: Hmmm, that throws a wrench in eeverything. I just remember being told that they were moving because he wasn't allowed to have the post office in the store anymore. Maybe the owner of the store isn't allowed to be the postmaster too so he gave up the store... Ram1: this guy gets around allrite. JA Ram1: haha dats funny. my boys steal it anyways. home depot is stupid, my boys buy spray paint, then return diferent cans to the store. idont do it, dont find it to interesting, but wateva EvilGentleman: LMAO, there I was, scratching my head, thinking "Ok, I've heard of NORAD's DEW Line in the Arctic, NORAD's Mid-Canada Line that stretched across the boreal forests of Canada's middle, but what the heck is NORAD's Red Line?"
Now I know. Thanks, man. EvilGentleman: Sorry to disagree, Chris, but post offices are still allowed in stores. Most Arctic communities have their Canada Post franchises located within general stores. When I first moved to Coral Harbour, Nunavut in 1992, the post office was located in a stand-alone building that was in danger of falling down.... EvilGentleman: If only I knew how to dance...
