GETTIN' HYFEY: SKERT IS A DEAD MAN WHEN HE GETS OUT. elaine: defenestration of carpet jack: brooklyn humor and wit. i miss the embelished thoughts of the street people, the witty people. the, 'leave me alone thinkers but please bother me a little so i can tell you what i think, people'. i found you all at last. peter take pictures of plum... Peter: i really like the van photo... it looks so vacant and quiet. elaine: seems the shadow of english is german, according to the goo Jamie: i missed this first time round.I love the photo. elaine: bloody hell, i thought we'd seen the last of that. you really are a very naughty boy Jamie: damn right! a londoner and a milf elaine: or were you just trying out the new toy? elaine: no way? maybe it's because i'm a londoner? my parents are of an age to have experienced it, so that is how i know about it Jamie: i don't think i've ever heard of the phrase pea soupers before. Peter: pet bird graffiti
elaine: you would never think this site could have so much of a thing for benches michael: hot elaine: yeah, the equivalent here was called a 'pea souper' and although of course we now have minging invisible chemicals, paricuarly petrol and deisel, the pea soupers subsided after it became illegal to burn coal in cities. i would like an open fire, though, i wonder if this could be one... Peter: the cam makes great colors, man... reminds me of the photo in this entry. oldskool looking. viva le shadows and benches! Streetcars Rule:
Peter: word. that would be awesome! Peter: i figured as much! beats dead birds, eh? :) Peter: im glad i dont live in this version of nyc:
michael: sure, I'll try and get some today on the end of this roll I have in. elaine: marvellous! wot larks Peter: would one of you snap some photos of the streetcars there? ive seen a few in hool's shots. they look cool. jeeff: you know umbrellahead better than you think. jeeff: oh right. i forgot about that. i rarely take the streetcar. jeeff: it was recently announced that over 50% of toronto's smog is from the states. we've had 31 smog days so far already this year. our premier (provincial "governor" type) is thinking of suing the states because it is apparently costing us $5.2 billion yearly in health treatment and... elaine: i think it is important and righteous to abuse disney as much as poss cos they sue so ruthlessly jeeff: yeah, it was actually on the american side of lake erie that the river caught fire, not up here. but my hometown's drinking water came from the same great lakes, soooo.... Peter: hahaha, thats the best part! jeeff: i like how they used the disney font. elaine: i am feeling this as an animation, p elaine: if i were to eat your brain i think i would want it sauteed with onion and chips - oh, i just realised i am hungry, sorry! Peter: today:
Peter: we have stuff like this here:
we also have city-made signs around town (complete with a stick-figure man walkinga pooping dog) but i cant find any photos of a sign like that at the moment... Peter:
well, its like the bottom half of most all the lakes borders american states, which are most likely the source of most of the pollution, as they border industrial cities like chicago, detroit, buffalo, etc... Jamie: NO FOULING - Maximum Penalty £50
ie. don't get caught letting your dog shit on this street Peter: what a nice thing to read. im sure the person you wrote this to feels much better :) Jamie: yes dont they flow upwards from the us into canada? Peter: what does that sign the stickers are on say? "No fouling..."? Peter: couldnt resist. gotta get that keyword up in here on citynoise. proho, ProHo, PROHO... lol. Peter: shadows rule. i like your new photos, jamie. they remind me of the toycam but higher rez! Peter: interesting tangent re: river fires...
pratie.blogspot.com/2005/03/cuya . . . a-river-fire-of-1969.html elaine: jambo, you are so cruel. they say birmingham is england's answer to venice... a'course you gotta wonder what the question was michael: The queen streetcar is shut down from Roncesvalles to Shaw until August for track repairs. I can cut through the train tracks to get to the king streetcar, but I don't much like King street. Die Deutsche: Süß, echt. Mal wieder ne schöne Erinnerung an Paris... elaine: good point elaine: i am sticking with rover Jamie: like a giant birmingham perhaps? Jamie: i have a thing for shadows lately. I love the way that stuff casts such crisp dark shadows now that the height of summer is upon us. And i love the way that i myself cast my own shadow onto my photos.
GGP: LOL on the PROHO!!!!! Peter: wow, those could likely be of the super tacky polyester wall-hanging variety, heh. and good lord, no matter how many times i see it, the big grunning spongebob face never fails to freak me out, heh. Peter: i love how the cell tower/repeater on the left echoes the palm on the right. uncanny balance. Peter: these are my favorite sorts of threads... im seeing/learning all sorts of stuff id never be exposed to otherwise, so thanks!
also: gotta second the fact that america has nothing that old to decypher symbols from, unless it was made by native americans or something. in many ways, america is very... Peter: rest assured that if/when other/new Pet Bird art shows up, someone will post it here posthaste, hahahaha. i think some of us have grown midly obsessed in our little microcosm of ProHo graf. thats right, i said PROHO ;) Peter: whats the story on umbrellahead? Peter: i think the main campbell's soup plant is there, too... sure, "trenton may make and the world may take", but gimme a bowl of tomato soup over a pork-roll any day! Peter: its probably not canada's fault that most of the great lakes are so polluted... Jamie: I think i would name it Colin Peter: having a pet duck would rock. what would you name it? Quackers? hahahahaha... Peter: thanks yall. i really need to head out like this and just snap photos with the digital cam more... ive been tied to the cameraphone too much lately, heh. Peter: heart-moon with gluten-spurt is my fav! yay abstract moon shots! doublemoon! cool stuff... Peter: awesome! i love how a few photos of the same area can flesh it out in your mind and make you imagine what it must look like in 3D... even though youve never been there. cool. kc: I see what you mean about the postcard feeling...thinking about vintage U.S. photo postcards, bright and frozen at the same time. so much space in the pictures... kc: moon schnoz looks kind of like a fried egg....makes my mind wander to frying an egg on the sidewalk, but that's the sun.... kc: yes, it's great. It sort of builds as you wander through, like walking around.... elaine: suits the subject perfectly - 'hillo, this is britain. everything is marvellous, rilly it is. as long as we all buckle down and show no emotion' - specially the second one, it could be one of those post cards you used to be able to get Jamie: The same pedestrian crossing, at night
Jamie: good innit! it's just me nokia cameraphone. it goes all antiquey when its really sunny out elaine: jeez jamie, are you using antique film stock, or what, this looks like england in the early 1960's elaine: you are welcome. i have been running the idea of me having a goose past my friends, they all seem to think it is a crap idea (literally, but who needs carpets?) but a duck would be as good, see the thing is you wouldn't need a lead, they would... Jamie: Fuck a duck! thankyou elaine for my birthday bird. I didn't see it on my birthday, but it sure is a lovely duck. I'd sure like to own a duck like that one day. I'd take him/her out for walks long the promenade. Thats my dream. elaine: doesn't exist according to cityniose - yet. who are you and what is your test? elaine: hum, well your test didn't work so lemme call up that image elaine: see, rivers catching on fire that doesn't sound so good... i always thought canada would be such an eco paradise, shaking it's head and tutting at america elaine: so the postcard sky is gods little ironic joke... Lili: Anusha, how amazing, how wonderful, to know of him hearing the choir sing. I feel he may hear it now - no blueprints - or "blueprints" as we usually refer to them. Have you ever heard of Hildegrad Von Bingen ? Lili: Stillness in Motion. jeeff: i've seen photos of the lake in winter - really fantastic. i'm sad to add to your report that lake ontario is pretty toxic as well. most of our beaches are perpetually closed due to high bacteria counts, and the water just doesn't smell good even where you... vz:
citynoise? jeeff: whoops i posted in the other one. jeeff: i live about 5 houses off dovercourt. my old apartment was on shaw. why is the ttc motivating you to walk? or is it the weather? jeeff: what planet do you live on? Lili: Happy solstice. vz: yeah, it's a pretty notorious town... exactly the kind of place most people steer clear of and i seek out like it's my job GGP: we wish we knew! the artist's identity remains a mystery thus far.
