Previous Day :: Next Dayshe-snailie _@_v: "How quickly we forget..."
_@_v - something to think about next time you're standing on the corner of cortland and greenwich streets in n.y.c. kc: ah, how nice to have patti smith in my head....how come they don't take women's shoes and toss 'em over the lampposts? just noticed the liner's missing in one of the last ones...thought of Judy Garland for some reason. Anyhow, thanks for the explanation... jeeff: and so melancholy. sigh. jeeff: in all fairness, they only began hissing after i chased them around the lawn for a while. jeeff: np. the vector link is totally incomprehensible to me. it was the first hit on my websearch. scared the shit out of me. Jehan: this is not new in amsterdam, as i am researching book plates from the 1600s with views of the city at that time and there seemd to bee public urnals throught the city. Anonymous (pool-71-101-207-226.tampfl.dsl-w.verizon.net): So very true. Peter: ybor is apparently like a little-cuba. Anonymous (216-211-206-26.firstgate.net): I was there too! great camera. Anonymous (216-211-206-26.firstgate.net): i like your pics especially the first one. It was an interesting contrast of the grafitti (close up) and then the buildings in the distance. deshant: this looks so much like Baptista-era Cuba it's remarkable. The attention to keeping a clean restaurant is great although I wish the dude tossing the salad would mop his brow. Not the dressing I asked for Anonymous (lon-on52-092.dial.allstream.net): I love Rock Glen!!!!!! elaine: the abandoned goods store near tower gateway
elaine:
Another Republican: IRELAND UNFREE SHALL NEVER BE AT PEACE,
In Irelands fight for freedom people on both sides of the community have sadly died,True Irish republicans have always tried to fight the war against British occupation and unite our country
free from foreign rule.
Peter: mmm, what i wouldnt give for a 1905 salad from there right now... elaine: hah! they just did, but i got wayalaid into customising stickers ; ) Peter: ooh, id love to see those... heres hoping they turn up. elaine: i've got a couple of really dark ones i took in liverpool in the 80's but i've just turned the flat over looking for them and they are hiding somewhere elaine: yeah, nice one Peter: and today it looks like this:
Peter: i love how the guy's face turned out today. Peter: Peter: some of the early ones looked like printouts. but the b&w ones posted above are defintely professionally-done vinyl stickers (and they stick quite firmly, i might add). Peter: laura:the wonderwheel has cars (the inner ones) that move on a short track and swing out quickly as the wheel turns- its scary, especially if you dont expect it! Peter: thanks for those links, jeeff. that stuff is really interesting... Peter: that one looks like someone was standing there in their blue shoes, eating skittles, and just disappeared, leaving the shoes/wrapper behind. una arquitecto: Lo primero enhorabuena a Don Justo por su habilidad y perseverancia. Ya quisiéramos muchos.
Claro que construir "a ojo de buen cubero" se ha hecho en todas la épocas, y en cierto modo se sigue haciendo:) ¡¡¡pero con una laaaarga experiencia de años aprendiendo el oficio!!! Construir un edificio bajo el... elaine: but thanks for the heads up, the fact i am too dim to work the damn things notwithstanding, it was fun trying, but not being strongly motivated probably aided in my failure - if i want to do something to a picture and it's in my mind's eye how i... jeeff: yeah i like fish-eyes. it's the regular pics that i usually want to straighten out, the ones with just a little distortion. elaine: not that i am not interested in other possible narratives of abandoned shoes, cos i am...
elaine: well, obviously i looked at the insane one first, but it's really insane, so then i tried downloading the gizmo, but sadly i am too insane to do it right and it didn't work, so then i followed the instructions for doing it by hand, and the stuff right in... elaine: cripes! milk an cookies keepin you up! elaine: it's a fiction - as close as i get to fiction. the shoes were where they were on the street, but they were near 'god worshippers' who often leave stuff out for folk to have, very often shoes, and the 'drunk' written in the cement was the next picture i... sine: rumor has it Disney just bought a chunk of the island. joey: imagine that! a road running through the cemetary. remember the twilight zone episode where the kid talked to his dead grandmother on the phone becuase the downed telephone line lay across her grave? must be a sppoky street to drive on ... kc: nice shots. I like it out there, too...I guess it's a mess but it feels so much better than the supposed renewal of the Cyclones stadium, even if I love baseball and would love to go and feel the sea breeze... kc: this is intriguing. are the shoes dancing? what's happening in the middle? whose shoes are they? the shoes are resting while the dancer is dancing? the shoes left behind while something more dire happened? are they the photographer's shoes? Is this a narrative or a found moment? etc. it... Peter: im sitting in SODA right now with sine. alas, no dj shuffa tonight, which means the music here is shite at the moment. emo lameness.
im drinkin canadian whiskey. that's my diss to america tonight.
boh selekta. Anonymous (pool-70-107-146-169.ny325.east.verizon.net): nice shots of what used to be child's restaurant. Previous Day :: Next Day |
