Previous Day :: Next Day

adam: FYI. Read jule's comments. I completely agree.

in response to Scenes from a Little Town Called Jacksonville

Rich: not a cloud in the sky

in response to Little Wing

adam: Okay, where do I begin? I have lived in Jacksonville for pretty much my entire life. I am 29 years old and I recently moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL which is a much better city to live in (culture, variety, nightlife, crystal blue water beaches, shopping, diversity, etc.)....

in response to Scenes from a Little Town Called Jacksonville

CartLegger: Adam: outings? We have them all the time, man! You should join us sometime. I see your postings, and we not only share names, but tastes for corners of the city and odd photographic angles to see them through. You can contact either Peter or me at our names @citynoise.org....

in response to Vanishing Point

adam: nice shot peter.. when're gonna set up some citynoise group outtings? :)

in response to Vanishing Point

Andrew C: This really is fascinating stuff. I knew Netherne very well in the 1980's both as a patient in an acute ward and as an 'auxiliary' in a psycho-geriatric ward. I can't speak highly enough of the place, and although I understand the arguments in favour of closing large asylums, I...

in response to Netherne Mental Asylum

embarq: I heard in the 70's that the couple that lived in the house for many years, somehow got a zoning clause that prevented the houses from ever geing torn down...thus the new owner is using the loophole of waiting for the houses to fall down naturally.

in response to LaJolla Beach for Joey

Renee: Hi AP & Bayside Watcher - I agree wholeheartedly and there are no arguments here. The entire place is a complete disaster. If you scroll up a little, you'll notice that I've posted several comments here and am well aware of the magnitude involved with restoring this cemetery. ...

in response to Bayside Acacia Cemetery

little ukraine: i recognize this from my years commuting to Flatbush Ave on the LIRR. it can be seen from the train was one passes through the dark cavernous East New York LIRR station.

in response to Apex Airtronics, Inc.

Bayside Watcher: Renee, your concern and outrage for the condition of the mausoleums and the internal crypts are spot on. And reinterring the remains of the dead in those crypts and securing the mausoleums should be a very high priority for Congregation Shaare Zedek. But in my opinion the problem is more...

in response to Bayside Acacia Cemetery

Peter: totally! but since tom mentioned it, i was trying to play along :)

in response to Apex Airtronics, Inc.

Jamie: I don't care about any of that. I just love the overpainted castle doors.

in response to Apex Airtronics, Inc.

AP: Renee, there is a caretaker on site who works very hard to tend the cemetery. But, if you look at Bayside Watcher's comment above above (with aerial image and approximation of the cemetery being about 14 acres/35,0000 graves) you'll probably agree that its laughable to merely put one man in...

in response to Bayside Acacia Cemetery

Tyfoid Kid: Yes it does.

in response to No Longer Hidden

Peter: google also tells me that they have annual sales of roughly $1,936,739. not bad for a company that looks like its been gone for years, ha.

in response to Apex Airtronics, Inc.

Renee: Dear Rabbi Julia Andelman, Let's put aside the talks of misappropriated funds and discussions of amounts of money and man hours it would take to overhaul this cemetery. While I can only speak for myself, I feel that the general consensus here is what we are all...

in response to Bayside Acacia Cemetery

Tom: Additional Google info states that the company was founded in 1948.

in response to Apex Airtronics, Inc.

Tom: A quick Google searth provided this information about the company: Manufactures radio broadcasting & communications equipment Aircraft antennas, Automotive antennas, Radio frequency data communication equipment, Television core equipment, Television access equipment, Television antennas, Radio core equipment, Radio access equipment

in response to Apex Airtronics, Inc.

Candy: To Tyra I completely agree with u. When I was at ACHS we had a basketball team that was pretty good. I didn't really follow sports much back then so I could be wrong. I admire the tenacity and persistence and determination of the current class. Making things happen is the...

in response to Acorn Community High School

zagg: Love the font; does the church still go by that name?

in response to No Longer Hidden

zagg: Love the font; does the church still go by that name

in response to No Longer Hidden

Candy: Hi, I graduated from ACHS in 2003 so I can't really comment on what it is now but I can tell u what it was then. Aside from my college years, my 4 years at ACHS were the best. I had teachers that really cared about me including Mr. Ben...

in response to Acorn Community High School

Tyfoid Kid: Super Cool!! Someone could spend quite a bit of time in Photoshop coming up with this affect. So as far as the camera phone goes this would be "working as designed."

in response to Even the Trains Are Crooked in Brownsville

I remember: I now can appreciate the scope of the problem.

in response to Bayside Acacia Cemetery

Bayside Watcher: 'I remember' - You are a good person and you have great intentions. But have you been to Bayside Cemetery? If you had, you wouldn't possibly think that 4 cleanup visits per year would do much of anything. Bayside Cemetery is 13 or so acres with about...

groovehouse: Wow! Italicized train!

in response to Even the Trains Are Crooked in Brownsville

Peter: and apparently ive been hating on cops for 6 years... at least...

in response to Officer Manson

I remember: I agree it is difficult to view photos like these. Instead of figuring out whom is to blame, lets figure out a solution. If there are so many hits on this site than maybe some of these people want to come out and CLEAN UP. I am...
