indykid: Peter, my feelings were very similar, I thought it would be much more grimy and industrial feeling. But everywhere you look new buildings are going up, and what's more is most of these wonderful attractions were free. Transport was cheap as well, £2 for 7 days unlimited bus travel!

in response to I Double-Dare You to Pull It

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Don't forget that you're not allowed to sit with your legs spread. How far is too far? Do they have a protractor to measure the angle? What if you have arthritis, bad hips or huge testicles? Mitch and I had this very discussion yesterday while watching a homeless guy bathe...

in response to Subway Cycling: NYC

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: Beards are great. You can keep badgers, babies and boron tubes in them. Unfortunately Silkwood was based on a true story. She was inexplicably contaminated whilst working at the Kerr-McGee's plutonium fuels production plant in Crescent, Oklahoma. She also died very suspiciously in a car crash as she was gathering...

Peter: lol. i wonder if any of those innane "rules" were enforced during their first day... for those of you who dont know, the just enacted rules- that went into effect yesterday- that prohibit food/beverages on the train, sitting in two seats, putting your bag on a seat, walking between cars,...

ian: ps. that movie sounds like anti-nuclear fear-mongering. I'd probably just become irritated and frustrated if I watch it. Of course, fear sells. How else would we have conquered the majestic oil fields of the Persian Gulf but for a bearded bogeyman ready to snatch away our Lindbergh babies. In fact,...

ian: Radioisotopes are wonderful things. Their decay brings about our decay, yet, they have taught us so much about life, chemistry, and the nature of the universe. I exhalt them, on a mighty altar, in a chalice of Boron tubes to shield us from the glory of their neutrons.
