Previous Day :: Next DayChristopher: It is not fair for people to be living in the bad conditions. Also that people need to respect the Humboldt Park residents who live here. Not to push people out of their homes. Carrie: HaHaHa...is this a joke? I just moved here from San Diego, Cali. There may not be alot to do out here....but It's a nice place to raze a family...My hubby has a good job and im a stay at home mom of two and with one on the way. We... GGP: Heh, heh!
Bugs, eh? Do you know I'm a beekeeper? I can give you all the bugs you want. But you meant Bugs, didn't you? Bob Cratchitt: I have posted on this site previously, but it never seems to show up. Perhaps this site prefers negative verbiage. and what's with, slamming a little town yet most all the posts seem to be about the different tastes of sodas. Well, as I've mentioned before, the... Rioteer: Yes, exactly. Which makes one know that it was probably started by drunks, bad apples, or people just ready to unleash some aggression under the pretense of a Hockey Game victory as the game itself wasn't really anything worth a riot. It wasn't even that great of a game last... Sabres Fan: So they defeated the 8th seeded team in 7 games in the Conference Quarterfinals.
Woohoo? Rioteer: When the Police come dressed for battle, a battle they're always going to get. You heard of 'Positive Visualisation'? It's like that, but not positive. A sport event is no reason to battle, and that goes for the cops as well as the people. It is scary, really. And... CE: I was there during the celebrations but left before the riots began. I was going to bike back up at about 1:30am but unfortunately got a flat tire when I was leaving (and my camera is broken).
Montreal does indeed have a long history of rioting. One of the... mburgos: omg... i wonder how many of you i know... i grew up all over kensington... and still kinda am ... the steak house wanderer was staliking about was billy's steak house... they robbed and killed him years ago. and i remember viola bar. front and cambria.. i lived... hockeylver: yeh they feel invincible...till round 2 when they burn out Oldfart: This isn't a hockey tradition. Montreal loves its riots ever since the Quebec legislature passed the Rebellion Losses Bill in 1849 and an English mob torched the parliament buildings, which used to be here.
Since then we've had the conscription riots, the 1968 Murray Hill riot, the 1969 McGill français riot,... Alan Taylor: Arrgh!
I remember Captain Austin of the Eccles Army Cadet unit and visiting his home - can't remember if he lived next door or ND but one to Cyril Bagshaw senior.
Alan... EvilGentleman: Thanks for the referral. There are so many other good pictures out there, I am surprised that you like these ones. Montreal.com: w5.montreal.com/mtlweblog/2008/0 . . . ge-in-overexuberance.html Nobody: Saul- thats a nice, random factoid. But what does it have to do with this thread? Or Coney Island?
Once again, I urge you to stick to fleshing out the statements that you, yourself, originally posted, lest you appear to be an eccentric rabble-rouser spouting tangential points for no apparent reason. EvilGentleman: Actually Peter, logic would tell you that a loss would have been catastrophic, I agree. But that is not the case in Montreal. Had the Canadiens lost, the crowds would have been grumpy and sullen, but their spirits would have been dampened, and no riot would have occurred.
It is when... DM: Stay classy, Habs fans.
Jackasses. saul altman: There are 1 out of 100 Americans in PRISONS EvilGentleman: Some of the Youtube videos are something else... WOW!
youtube.com/results?search_query . . . ry=habs+riot&search_type= Peter: to make a fairly obvious observation... if this is what things looked like when they won, imagine what it would have looked like if they had lost, heh... i suppose the outcome of the stanley cup will tell... Frankie: I was rooting for the Bruins. You don't see mob mentality go unchecked like this in Boston! A Fan: Les Canadiens! Le Bleu-Blanc-et-Rouge! La Sainte-Flanelle! Le Tricolore! Les Glorieux! Les Habitants! Le Grand Club!

Heh, I was viewer number 50,000. Random.
Glad to see a happier bunny this time.
Can I do a special bunny request? Bugs Bugs Bugs Bugs Bugs!!!!! EvilGentleman: Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble.
If I stay, it will be double.
So come on and let me know,
Should I stay or should I go?
Damn, I loved those lyrics. EvilGentleman: These pictures show 3 of the 5 or 6 police cruisers to be burned. I started photographing around 1:10 this morning.
Unfortunately, my lithium batteries chose this day to die, and I had forgotten to bring spares, so I did not bother continuing further east towards Crescent Street, since I would... Peter: nice find, jack. that mural was done in 2003 by Zephyr (graffiti artist) and dr. revolt on the side of niagra bar on the lower east side to commemorate the passing of Joe Strummer...

Movin to Wick: actually I am from Brooklyn, Sheepshead Bay, but I have been out of the country for a time and had some concerns about that specific block because I just found and apartment there and it was mentioned earlier in the thread as being particularly bad. He has mentioned the Smith family as living there when he... Jennifer and Jasper: I highly suggest everyone see the film "Sharkwater." Sharks are on the brink of extinction because of the demand for Shark Fin soup. Sharks are a vital part of the delicate ecosytem of the ocean. As the top of the food chain in the ocean, their disappearance has tragic implications... Previous Day :: Next Day |
