Trolley Tracks

author: serlingrod : Philadelphia, PA

image 28293
I think there's something really poetic in the way tracks interact throughout the city. Intersections where two lines cross create great steel curves and shapes, like unintended works of art. While there's lots of tracks in that are no longer frequented by their trolleys, the ones in these pictures (taken along Lancaster Ave. and Baltimore Ave.) are still in service. The only downside - getting stuck while biking!

Where Brooklyn At?

West Philly, of course! This one's for Peter, Luna Park, upfromflames, CartLegger, and the whole Brooklyn crew. I snagged a shot of the street sign while on my bike ride this past Sunday. The following streetscape shot is courtesy of Google StreetView. Look anything like your NY hood? And yes, those appear to be Christmas lights... maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=bro . . . _result&resnum=1&ct=title

Outside McGlinchey's

author: serlingrod : Philadelphia, PA

image 28195
One of the cheapest dives in , or all of for that matter, that actually sells good . McGlinchey's was one of the first to apply for a variance from the recently instated city-wide smoking ban. Almost everywhere else you can drink and eat smoke-free, yet the cloud still hangs inside the Glinch. Come for the hipsters showing off their track , stay for the 75 cent hot dogs!

That first store name was such a hit, why not keep a good thing going? Located at Cumberland & Sepviva in Kensington.
