Chinese Lunar New Year NYC

Wil and I went downtown today for the Chinese Lunar New Year Firecracker ceremony and cultural festival. The firecracker detonation is intended to ward off evil spirits... Regrettably, some of these come out rotated online, and I'm not sure why, haven't been able to fix it. Just turn your head slightly left- its not the same, but you get the general idea :) ]

My friend came into town yesterday for her birthday. We first walked over to Carl Schurz park to watch to boats in the East River We went to the Seaport and took a boat ride right before a thunderstorm blew in. The sky was half dark and half blue. It was incredible. I wasn't fast enough to catch a shot of the lightning... These cranes are in Brooklyn The Brooklyn Bridge The Manhattan Bridge Right when we pulled in, it started to rain. Then pour. We had lunch and waited it out. When ithe skies cleared, they were brilliantly blue.

Today was the NYC Five Boro Bike Tour. The tour attracts thousands of riders who travel 42 miles through all the boros. This was the 30th anniversary of the tour--we've been doing it for the last 4 and its always a fun time. The weather today was good for it- a little windy, but cool and sunny. We're supposed to get a Northeaster tomorrow--but today was a perfect day for the park... The boathouse. My grandfather spent a lot of time here with his sailboat...
