i decided to go to coney for a frank at nathans and got off of the belt parkway at cropsey avenue where i went to school at lafayette h s. on the way back i had to top off with a spumoni at l&b's spumoni gardens on 86th street. thats the way to go brooklyn style.

Old Smoke House

shot this old smokehouse on my way home. this is not that kind of smoke house you guys are thinking about. it was used for foods, turkeys and hams.

Little Red Wagon

author: jack : Greenbrook, NJ

image 16630
i saw this red wagon and just shot it as it sat there. i never had a red wagon because in brooklyn you just didn't have them in the 40's. i mean they were available but i didn't get one, and no kids that i knew had one. funny, there is a picture of my mom, 92 now, but a picture of her sitting in a little wagon. life is funny that way, with a war going on in the 40's and i was happy with what i had. very few young men around, me...

Down on the Farm

author: jack : Greenbrook, NJ

image 16612
went apple picking and came upon this old, old house. found this apple had fallen and decided to place it in a prominent place befitting the old homestead. i wonder how many days and years the family that lived here woke up every morning to take care of and then harvest the apple trees that were here since this house was built. the people are gone, the house is falling down and yet the trees are still producing their crop of apples each year. the ghosts are here, still working down beneath the house, still harvesting their produce.

Dinner and a Bed

author: jack : New York, NY

i often ate here at the westway when i worked as a concierge at the milford plaza, the waldorf and the plaza. there was nothing better than working in the city and strolling thru rockefeller center at this time of year. the city becomes a wonderland of excitement. stores get ready for the holidays, people become friendlier, taverns become exciting and the crouds of tourists and families visiting our city make the days pass all too quickly. autumn in new york, why does it seem so exciting? ever wonder where all the elks go when they visit...

Runners and Other Strangers
