 what worries me...
is that these carry our puter landlines.
apart from being somewhere to put posters they often seem to be open to the elements and either full of junk or spilling their guts.
i have a friend who works in telecoms and he doesn't seem worried by this. it is all expalinable by the tinyness of the medium nowadays. i was in a telephone exchange once as a yoof and it was a massive factory space full of analog - which would all fit on a circuitry board now

here's a tour of different views of canary wharf (the pointy one, of course). i happen to like this building and look at it a lot, and these photos span some time. what i have realised though is i don't have one showing how close up canary wharf is actually quite dominated by the surrounding buildings, so doubtless more to come...
first 6 from my bedroom window, due north of the wharf
this one from 'tower gateway' dlr station which is due east and right by tower bridge
this from a bit more north, thru the gasworx i love
and this i took...

this here is something which truly was awesome. the danish artist olafur eliasson made this installation 'the weather project' with mirrors glass and light, and sugar and water fog in the tate modern turbine hall in the winter of 2003.
on the bbc website he is quoted as saying;
"The weather has a couple of qualities I like a lot. It somehow defines a sense of community but we have very different opinions about it. I might like the rain a lot but you may dislike it."
He added: "The other thing I like is the idea of it being unpredictable. It...

 east London E1

Before you say anything it is E2. and from this hideously child friendly signage, you would not guess it is on a major main road and opposite Ion Sq, where the 'tourist information' graf is.
these animals are smart
this duck is doing yoga
this cockrel is wearing cool threads
this is my favourite duck, so he gets in twice. when he runs in the rain his feet make a great slapping sound. a goose was very friendly and pecking my bum, and my mum took photos of me but you don't get to see those

in conversation, one afternoon in the golden heart recently, i was havering on about liverpool and watching riots from my bedroom window in the early eighties, and i happened to mention the way that princes avenue had been tarted up to make it easier for the police to fight the rioters before they melted back toward granby street. i had a boyfriend at the time who went out to take photographs, and was duly pulled off the street and driven back round to the front door and deposited - told very firmly to bugger off.
so this bloke, dean, starts telling...
