I guess you'd call this corporate art. Not really my thing but I have to admit it did look cool trapped in it's cage, reflecting it's surroundings. Glass & steel within glass & steel, downtown Seattle.
These shots are a sort of sequel to these as they're taken in the same area...

Ever since I moved to Seattle, I've called this building The Darth Vader Building. At night it looks glossy, black, and evil. That's really the only connection, no one else knows what I mean when I mention the DVB...
I could tell you what it's really called, but the actual name is really boring compared to mine, trust me. Besides, someone with too much free time could find out easily and post it later.
I will tell you this : It's the tallest skyscraper in Washington, and by far the most imposing. It's also the tallest building by number of floors west...

A recent walk through Seattle's International District, similar to Chinatown in other cities.
It's an O. Henry story, a song by The Cramps, and it's part of the title of a classic porn flick; it's the mysterious green door.
I had the Visual Dictionary in mind when I shot this. This is a different crop than the one I sent them. I think some of you citynoise regulars would like the site : thevisualdictionary.net
The rest of the shots will now unroll without further comment...

Ok, I'm still straying from cityNOISE but this place is within the city, and this post definitely reflects an appreciation for my environment.
The Japanese Garden in the Washington Park Arboretum. It actually was pretty noisy due to a large group of wandering nimrods, but as you look at these maybe you can feel the quietness of the place itself. Very cool place to hangout.

For a long time I've thought of touring this city and photographing all the old buildings & specifically the details architects & artisans used to incorporate into them. Generic condos are springing up everywhere here, I wouldn't mind but they really are very ugly. They exemplify a total lack of imagination but then again I guess stacks of rat cages don't have to be fancy...Given also that apparently 80% of Seattle's downtown buildings are not earthquake-proof, I fear for the old buildings, I fear the disappearance of character. Snapshots can at least save them to a slight degree.
So I haven't...
