The 2009 Coney Island Mermaid Parade took place on Saturday June 20th, which started out as a lugubrious afternoon filled with heavy rain and apprehension. However, the diehards never fail to show up, and make the most out of what is most certainly one of the best parades in NYC. I was there to capture it.

I took these with my '78 Olympus OM-1 camera with a Sigma fisheye lens, and on one of them I used the built in yellow filter. A cable release was used for 5-10 second exposures. Crouching down by the Utopia Parkway exit on the Cross Island Expressway
