Hi-Rise Drama

I was walking west on College just before 3:00PM when all of a sudden, police cars were coming from everywhere, blocking the College/Bay intersection. A crowd gathered and everyone seemed to be looking up. Seeing a Citynoise opportunity, I hang around. The cops cordoned off the east side of Bay south of College and directed the onlookers, me included to the other side of Bay. It was only then when I saw what was going on. It was this man! Sweetie, what can be so bad? I actually felt bad for the guy! But he left the window, so I knew he was...

The Murals of Leslieville

author: Elicar : Toronto, ON

"Graffiti Transformation Employs youth for removing graffiti and replacing it with murals, through grants to community organizations. Mural Program Business associations, including community groups that include strong business participation, can receive one-time funding for street banners or wall mural projects that help promote a local theme and facilitate commercial neighbourhood identity." www.toronto.ca/grants/grants_directory.htm#neighbourhood Ralph Thorton Centre on the other hand, is a centre established in 1980 with a "primary purpose...

Walking Home

author: Elicar : Toronto, ON

I work downtown. I live in the Upper Beaches, 10 kilometers away. It is about 10 minutes by car, about 35 minutes by streetcar and about 40 minutes by bus and subway. It is at least 2 hours on foot. I have ventured on walking home lately. Sometimes, I am quite motivated; sometimes, I hop on the streetcar midway. Downtown, Corktown, Riverdale, Leslieville, The Beach, Upper Beaches. That's my route. My starting point; BCE Berczy Park Flatiron Building at Wellington and Front St. James Church on King Street East A manual water pump across the street Little York Hotel, built 1879-1880; a heritage building Parliament and King At...
