My Other Building

Painted "My Building", acrylic on canvas, during the 1990s, to represent many of the brownstones and classical buildings scattered throughout Brooklyn and the people living in them.
Each window is dedicated to a different friend and I'm supposed to be the boy with the kite.
It was also exhibited at the CIGE (Chinese International Gallery Exposition), Beijing, 2005.
The painting is now part of a private collection in Switzerland.

nice... this reminds me of led zeppelin's 'physical graffiti' album cover...

(thats 96 and 98 St. Mark's Place, btw...)

robert: 19th Oct 2009 - 18:45 GMT

Yes, Peter, that's exactly from where I took the model for the building
I painted... Wasn't able to go to Brooklyn so I used the photo on the cover of a Led Zeppelin cassette that I found somewhere around the drawers. It reminded me so much of the typical Brooklyn houses that I made a drawing of it from the cover and added all the rest.
It's also nice to know that it's actually on St. Marks Place.

I see the clouds that move across the sky
I see the wind that moves the clouds away
It moves the clouds over by the building
I pick the building that I want to live in

I smell the pine trees and the peaches in the woods
I see the pine cones that fall by the highway
That's the highway that goes to the building
I pick the building that I want to live in

It's over there, it's over there
My building has every convenience
It's gonna make life easy for me
It's gonna be easy to get things done
I will relax alone with my loved ones

Loved ones, loved ones visit the building,
take the highway, park and come up and see me
I'll be working, working but if you come visit
I'll put down what I'm doing, my friends are important

Don't you worry 'bout me
I wouldn't worry about me
Don't you worry 'bout me
Don't you worry 'bout me

I see the states, across this big nation
I see the laws made in Washington, D.C.
I think of the ones I consider my favorites
I think of the people that are working for me

Some civil servants are just like my loved ones
They work so hard and they try to be strong
I'm a lucky guy to live in my building
They all need buildings to help them along

It's over there, it's over there
My building has every convenience
It's gonna make life easy for me
It's gonna be easy to get things done
I will relax along with my loved ones

Loved ones, loved ones visit the building
Take the highway, park and come up and see me
I'll be working, working but if you come visit
I'll put down what I'm doing, my friends are important

I wouldn't worry 'bout
I wouldn't worry about me
Don't you worry 'bout me
Don't you worry 'bout ME..........

Robert: ...Then, who am I going to worry about?

Franny Wentzel: Worry about the government...

Robert: Which one?

Franny Wentzel: 20th Oct 2009 - 16:48 GMT

Well I wouldn't worry about the Shadow Government much...

Robert: 20th Oct 2009 - 17:47 GMT

Franny... You're simply great! Truly hope you finish your novel soon. I'll be first in line to get it, can't wait to read it!

Robert: 20th Oct 2009 - 18:42 GMT

And, forgot to tell you that I'd be more than honored if you'd let me help you on its cover design!
