It seems that in every city I visit, there's at least one apparently schizophrenic individual who travels the streets with hand-scrawled signs filled with biblical references, rants about sin, and just plain nonsense. Proud Mary's Crazy Talk in Philly is a good example. Here's one I spotted this weekend in Milwaukee.

This phenomenon intrigues me to no end. What compels these individuals to chose this specific type of aesthetic dissemination method? Are they aware of each other? Is there some sort of underground "crazy sign" social network?

signs where ppl put irrelevent words "in" quotes always "makes" me giggle...but the way this fellow wraps his words when he runs out of space is giving me a stroke. o_O

The way this god fellow throws his hate around... he must be a real a-hole...

EvilGentleman: 19th Oct 2009 - 00:52 GMT

I'm surprised the sign did not get the side of his car smashed in.

And is a classic. A good alternate title, if you ask me.

From the looks of the signs, I would say this fellow was raised , got by a , converted to and lost a lot of weight, but still can't get laid.

Reminds me of the Evangelical in the region of where I spent a good part of my teen years. One day, I was sitting in the local tavern having a beer with some friends(I was 19, the legal drinking age in Nova Scotia), and this nutjob enters the bar and screams at the top of his lungs, . We all stopped, turned and looked at him, and all was silent for about 30 seconds, and then the hysterical laughter began. He just shook his fist at us and left.

I was thinking the same about the "Christian First, American Second" sign, EvilGentleman.

This guy strikes me as the more flamboyant version of the people who walk up and down major streets in Dublin holding pictures of aborted foetuses to warn about the evils of abortion (which is still illegal here).

At least this guy knows that people will be laughing at him: "Wipe that smile off your face, devil"

WTF. people like this scare me. Not because of their message, but because of their method. Do they think this approach really works? Sheesh!

angelenesdreams: 19th Oct 2009 - 21:11 GMT

it works for HIM...after all, with everyone ridiculing him for his beliefs, he's a martyr in his mind. =P
