cmimage 36398

**As a child I would often pass by the Williamsburg Bank building and hoped that someday I´d go in and go up to visit its roof.
That day never arrived but the image of that place is still holds a strange place within my memories.
I painted "Willy", last year and thought that it might be of interest to post it here.
The technique used was acrylic on canvas, 130 X 102**

Is the lady supposed to be Marilyn Monroe? I'm a member of a MM comminity on Live Journal and wanted to post a link to this if she is.

Robert: 11th Oct 2009 - 22:03 GMT

Franny, just made a comment on your recent NYC post.
Yes the lady is MM, if you print the picture twice and place the copies together you will identify her right away. I included her image on the picture because, while making the composition of the painting, I associated many of the elements that impressed me during my chilhood days.
Marilyn was one of them. Still remember going over and over to the movie theater at Fourth Av. and Dean St. to see the movie Bus Stop. I was about nine... and she was so pretty.
There are some other of my paintings with her image, please reach me through my email: rofig7@gmail.com

I live right down the block from this building, and will never see it quite the same way again after glancing at it through your eyes! thanks for posting it here!

Cartlegger, I´ve been enjoying many of your posts for the last few years. You've really helped me, as well as Peter and others to make many a virtual trip to where I grew up: Dear old Brooklyn. I've been hundreds of miles away since I was a youngster, but the place still remains in my heart.
Glad you liked the painting, I'll try to post some more pictures based on the same subject.

War As Usual

This picture was taken at the gay beach in Tel Aviv, right to the north of the separated ultra-orthodox beach (fyi, yesterday was ladies day). The sunset over the mediterranean was amazingly beautiful. A near perfect ending to a good...
