First, read this...

This past weekend, Cartlegger and I happened across a rather rare (at least to me) sight...
the NYC DOT had the Grand Street Bridge wide open for repairs

There was even a work-crew and a DOT vehicle out on the open swing span

The workers, though a bit weirded out that I was walking around snapping photos, seemed pretty nice
and let us walk around the work site

One worker made us let him take a photo of us, then cracked a few jokes. I think he had had a few with lunch.

These greasy bearings are about all that contacts the bridge when its closed

Then we saw a mysterious pointing hand

And then we made a truck levitate
